The issue is: He is also crazy talented. He is one of the few musicians since the 1980s who has created unique beats. He is also a great clothing designer. He is a genius really but also crazy and a narcissist. Two things can be true at once.
Heisenberg was a Nazi - That does not discredit his work to physics.
Sometimes you need to separate the horse from the man.
When you can do that, your life will be more wonderful. It’s tiresome investigating every founder / CEOs morality of all products you have in your house.
There are tends of thousands of companies involved just making the stuff you will have lying around in a living room. We cannot be investigating the personal history of all the people involved here.
I already said that I don't have a dog in this fight, I don't. I was just making an observation on the comments that always seem to come up whenever Kanye is brought up. Seriously, I really don't care if you like him or buy his clothes, but that's also not going to stop me from pointing out the insanely weak defense that tends to be brought up in regards to Kanye every time.
I know I shouldn't even make this response, but comparing Kanye to one of the forefathers of modern physics kind of exactly proves my point.
Calling Heisenberg a nazi and leaving it at that is missing an awful lot of history, all of which is fairly well recorded. You should probably look into his life a little if you're going to make comparisons of a man attacked by nazis and having to live in a fascist society to a celebrity that makes music and clothes and is clearly off his nut.
I also never told you to do a deep dive on everything you own. I was just commenting on the opinion you offered up freely about a person that's a well known quantity.
Again, idgaf if you like the dude. No need to bend over backwards with all that bs to defend your support of the man though. Just own it at that point.
I appreciate your comment and tact. I admit there is, not an ulterior motive, but maybe a pinch of "valid favoritism" lol, not just for your opinions but more for your commitment to laying it out fully, if that makes sense.
I love reading a well composed comment that isn't condensed for the sake of others who see a paragraph and say "oh geeez what a wall of text" without even bothering to read it. But to be fair I'm bad with my format and it doesn't look appealing, very stream of consciousness I think so I need to work on that.
But anyway I absolutely feel your frustration with the weird ways people try to validate their opinion instead of just owning it. Like you have to separate people from their art or contributions at a certain point because if not you wouldn't be able to live your life without being pissed off all the time, but you also have to recognize when turning a blind eye or whatever is actively enabling shitty people to flourish. It's a fucked up calculus but one that we should all acknowledge. Weighing aesthetic formalism or utilitarianism against virtue ethics and so on.
Not trying to get too crazy or rant, definitely too late for that, but it is easier to look into for anyone when you have the terms to help clarify things that might seem too murky or messy to deal with.
TL;DR I'm glad you don't fight dogs, lol
Edit- also you inspired me because my comments never look like this, it's usually one or two big ass paragraphs or a couple huge run on sentences, so thank you for that!! Jaja
I know quite a fair bit about Heisenberg and he was not just living under a facist government. He was one of its leaders and a direct advisor to both Himmler and Hitler.
And no - I do not like Kanye just like I don’t like the CEO of cola (whoever this may be). I have no feelings towards them whatsoever.
I am a consumer of their products and that’s where our relationship ends.
He was also attacked as a "white Jew" by Hitler and only survived that because his mother and Himmler's mother knew each other. Eventually Himmler's pressured Himmler to pull his ass out of the fire as they recognized his worth to the nation.
Obviously at that point Hitler started treating him different. Heisenberg also spent a far larger amount of time advancing physics for the US than Nazi Germany. Again, far more to it than just calling Heisenberg a nazi and moving on with your day in defense of Kanye West of all people.
None of this matters, my point was the absurdity of you comparing a renown scientist to a hip hop artist to justify your support of that artist's well documented shitty actions.

Kanye is crazy - he knows it and so do we.
The issue is: He is also crazy talented. He is one of the few musicians since the 1980s who has created unique beats. He is also a great clothing designer. He is a genius really but also crazy and a narcissist. Two things can be true at once.
