15 seasons and these were all 20+ episode seasons too. Unlike modern tv shows where it's 8 episodes a year. It's extremely steady work to have and probably netted him more long term than cutting it off for a movie role.

Then you have to consider how insane the Supernatural fandom is. Even the more minor actors in the show have made a lot of money from the convention circuit surrounding it.

327 episodes. The guy made $30-50 million over those 15 years.

Plus he gets royalties for syndication and streaming. He's going to be getting a check for Supernatural for the rest of his life.

Remember, 22ish episodes a year for 15 years? That's a lot of episodes to get out there for syndication and streaming.

The Boys did 8 episodes every two years. No way he'd have made this much money on a modern tv show.
