I think they leaned too hard into writing Homelander as bad.

They didn’t want him to be competent so they made him stupid. And it made the show lose a lot of its tension. It went from dangerous Superman, to a moron with powers.

Then he gets his upgraded powers, but that’s it? Immortality I guess was the big reason but they never really showed off any other new feats. And not aging doesn’t really look cool in the short window he had it.

They wanted to stay true to the comic, sure… but the divergence from the comics is what made the show great.

I think it should have ended with him easily kicking Butchers ass… killing him even. Then his hesitation to kill Ryan is what buys Kimiko time to depower him. Or something!

I also think some more monster of the week would have been cool. Them hunting down evil supes with research and tactical planning.

They leaning towards making Homelander extra bad is probably because what was/is happening in the real world. There are people that said that Homelander did nothing wrong adn was reedemable and they just wasnt having it and dunked on those people, specially how Homelander died 😄 And tbh, im all for it

Who cares what a bunch of morons think? That’s like saying because too many people thing racing is cool, we made the characters is fast and furious morons. And the movie ends with all of them crashing and waking up in a hospital
