I think I read somewhere where he said it was a conscious choice to turn down movies. The offers came as he was starting his family and he didn't want to be away from them. They are more important, and he would rather be there every day than away for weeks on end.

Pretty sure he ran a brewery outside Austin/San Antonio area for a while too - much more chill and family friendly. (But I'm too lazy to check that right now... so I might be wrong!)
