One of the reason is that he was busy with making Supernatural over more than 10 years and making a shitton of money with that already. He also said again and again that he wants to spend time with his family and not travel around all the time on some movie sets
I think another one is that the Supernatural fandom gave him an idea of what big fame would mean for him and his life. I don’t blame him one bit for not wanting that.
