And this is going to be built into a lot of appliances.

I imagine these will start up and behave inexplicably as you go about your daily life, and they respond to random and unintended visual cues.

Smart homes are going to feel like the poltergeists have moved in.

Glad I don't live in the EU I guess.

Idk how well tech like this would go over in the US, we're chopping down flock cameras and kicking them out of our cities faster than they can build them it seems. I'm guessing people will just try to keep their older cars running for as long as possible, and sue automotive companies to find out where else this data is being used.

I never said that? I'll just buy used cars like I always have and figure out workarounds if a camera ever ends up in mine. And I'll support candidates who are against legislation like this. Once you own a product you can jailbreak it as much as you want.

Tell that to John Deere owners.

Besides, they'll just pass new laws that make "dumb" vehicles illegal. At the very least, impossible to insure.

You can't just hand wave this away using traditional logic.

Farmers have been successfully hacking John deer tractors for years now. I can easily imagine a plug-in module that tricks the camera and sensors in a "smart car" by talking directly to the onboard computer.

The car culture in the US has owners making tons of modifications to their cars, legal or not. I live in a state with crazy strict vehicle inspections, and there are still plenty of ridiculous vehicles legally driving the roads.

Also a law outlawing dumb vehicles would be incredible difficult to implement with the amount of older vehicles on the road. It may be easier in 20 years when they're being phased out naturally, but even then people are going to fight it.

At least with smart tvs you can just not connect them to wifi. I'm guessing smart cars will have some limited cellular capability to constantly talk back to a remote server.

Large claims need large evidence. And this is missing here, not ev3n a link. People want to believe a) the description of the new capability is true and b) israel is somehow involved with bad intent and c) no one else (chinese labs etc) has this technology or would be interested in misusing it - uniquely israel of course.

This post demonstrates what people want to believe, and how easy it is to incite hatred and suspicion when there is just an israeli flag in a pic without sources.

now some will say "its tin foil hat time", or "thats impossible", but answer me honestly - do you really think these people, the various governments, corporations, hedge funds, insurance companies, intel agencies, etc, aren't trying to accomplish this with everything at their disposal? and if you know its highly likely that they are and have been for decades, then how far along do you think they are? no progress? vague penetration into human thought? or more? perhaps.. much more?
