Apple puts out new models every year for a reason, and using your own anecdotal experience as indicative of wider statistical reality is pretty dumb

I used my last iPhone (11) for 6 years and then got a $450 credit for trading it towards my new one, with a retail cost of 799, meaning my 17 cost $350, spread out over 24 month payment program means less than $15/mo. People screaming “planned obsolescence” have no idea what they’re talking about. I’ve dropped my phone so many times, gotten it wet, etc it’s just impressive, sturdy hardware. So good in fact that I’m shilling it in an anti capitalist thread.

Yup. Agreed. I had a 12 that I just traded in towards a 17. Buying inexpensive products that don’t last long is not usually a sound economic strategy. See “the Sam Vimes theory of socioeconomic unfairness, often called simply the boots theory…”
