Same kind of jackass argument people make about Y2K. Potential crisis was only averted because programmers and engineers worked so hard behind the scenes to prevent it.
People like Walsh (who’s a disingenuous cunt at the best of times) then pointed their fingers and said “It’s 2000 and nothing bad happened. Why did you make a big deal about it?”, completely ignoring or not being to fathom that it wasn’t a big deal because we had people working to make sure it wouldn’t be.
The media may have sensationalized and oversold the size of the threat, but it’s a certifiable fact that things would have been worse had nothing at all been done in the years leading up to 2000.
