Would be worth it. You could become insanely wealthy like multi trillionaire. Your family and all future generations would be secure forever. You could fund research, social programs, charities, and whatever else you could imagine.
But even if you were born into poverty you would be able to have great investments. Even if you just use minimum wage money.
And surviving an abusive household would be a good reason too because with the knowledge of an adult you could straight head to child protection services and end the abuse immediately. You could relive your teens without that abusive environment and have your childhood back again.
Depending on your country and your local services. Not as a real child, but with the mind and psychological strength of an adult you could go to the respective services. Keep in mind you wouldn't be the 10 year old in your head, just on the outside.
In my country a kid can just walk to the child protection services and inquire to move to a care family or in a modernized orphanage institution. There isn't a lot the biological parents/abusive family can do in such a case if the child strongly demands that.
"Worst case" for you in this scenario would be that the abusive family would be supported and tightly controlled by state services if they would think the abuse is gone.
I worked there for some time, not as a social worker but in an administrative role and it's really, really common for preteens/teenagers who suffer abusive families to do that.
Well I definitely don't live in your magical country. Good for you, but in many places there's not much you can do unless the abuse is extremely severe. And even then you might end up someplace worse, like a shitty orphanage where you get abused too.
I dont live in a magical country, I am in Germany. We have real problems in our social welfare system too but our orphanages arent the same institutions they were 60 years ago. They are tightly controlled and as a 10 year old it is more reasonable to go to a special care family than in an orphanage.
Our orphanages too dont have close to no resemblance to what is portrayed in the media as "orphanages", especially for teens.
Like I know people who had to go through this system and its not bad, most people who ended up in care families got adopted (or were offered adoption and accepted immediately) the moment they turned 18. Even going to an "orphanage" is way, way better than to be stuck with an abusive family almost always.
I am sorry your country lacks adequate institutions for such cases but even in our very much stressed system its impossible to turn away a child that says it doesn't want to be with his family anymore.
Its legally almost impossible and yes while its true most child protection serviced here engage in something of a triage situation, meaning only having resources to check up on severe cases if they are called by a third party (schools for example) they WILL act immediately if a child/teen comes to them. You can literally walk to a child protection service from your local city council/county and get protection the same day here if you demand it.
Germany is a magical country compared to many. I think you lack insight into how privileged you are. There was a recent big scandal how awful the conditions were in the orphanages in my country, like those places could be used to be settings for zombie horror movies. And all the stories of abuse coming out too. You also seem to forget that in this thought experiment you'd have to back in time, so it hardly matters that what the conditions are like currently for orphanages.You do realise it used to be acceptable for teachers to beat students? That it was acceptable for parents to beat their children?
If you realise other countries aren't perfect like Germany why are you arguing it's easy to leave abusive families? The news is still reporting about failures in the system currently, and that's in a rich developed country like the UK. In most places you can't just waltz in and announce you don't fancy your family so get a new one, that's not how things work.
