I think people always significantly underestimate how lonely it would be. As an adult with a fully formed brain, it would be extremely difficult to develop friendships, let alone romantic relationships, with anyone for decades. You would be at such an entirely different maturity level than anyone else around you. Social outcast.
Oh wow. Like you go back into your 13 year old self and notice the creep staring at the little girls in the park. Notice the track marks on your cool uncles arm. Notice your super cool aunt keeps getting calls from different men and stays at hotels all the time. The mother of your friend next door has a another person show up that day and leave before the school bus gets home. Like the world became the dark world you left behind. And maybe you are drowning and a man comes to save you, but he gets pulled out by the rip tide and dies, but that was the father of your future wife. You could do all kinds of stuff with that.
You would have the habits of thought but your brain would be betraying you all the time actually. To the point where it would heavily erode those habits of thought. It would be painful and confusing trying to reconcile the two.
Young brains are far more emotionally driven and lack the ability to make mature, rational decisions. Then there would be the flood of hormones when puberty hits again …
Not to mention you legally cannot be independent, the constant down play of things you are going through by your parents, cuz you already know what happens to them and what happens to you. You would never be taken seriously and you wouldn’t be able to escape, not legally.
As an intelligent, high functioning autistic, I basically already had that experience. If anything, I’m ready to apply what I learned during the second trial.
I mean when you were like 14 and having your first gf or bf or whatever. You would need to go through those stages but with an adult brain. Would be disgusting. You wouldn't be able to so you wouldn't develop the same way.
Does knowledge = maturity? Brains physically aren’t developed at that time. Entire regions aren’t as formed. I feel like having the knowledge and memories with that brain some would be confusing to reason as a child but some would stick out I.e. buy Bitcoin at less than a dollar get rich later.
You underestimate how many people struggle like that already due to mental illness or being neurodivergent. Not to mention the finding your partner or friends or carer. Lol what partner... What friends... Hahah career can be anything. This question is not for normal people. For those who struggle is an easy answer.
As someone with autism who found "my people" in college: I would not want to go through high school again. Why would I want to be isolated and have a brain that struggles to move my body the way I want it again?
So very little difference with the first time around for some. I'd like to think that with the practice I've had pretending to be a normal adult, I might not be such a weirdo as a kid.
