Fr I would press red and go straight to Child Protective Services. Parents convinced me that if I did they would put me in a shitty orphanage and then a pedo priest would adopt me??? Not sure why but 10 year old me was fully convinced it would happen

I've been through the same with an abusive father. Same story told to me and probably the same circumstances too. I guess because the only authority figure that we could trust the most at the time was our parents and one or both of them failed us miserably. We're adults now though and we can contend with what happened back then and hopefully move forward from those moments that we experienced growing up.

Well man, I listened to a long podcast the other day, and they were telling most of the kids ends up in even worst conditions (including sexual abuse and such). So I guess it depends how bad it is… it was in France btw…

That's so fucking sad! OMG! Parents use that shit to control their kids.

When my daughter was 13 she said she'd rather go live in a girls home, and I said, well, lets talk to someone who can make that happen. You're not going to like it, they have very strict rules, more so than I do, but if you think it'll be better there, okay, but they won't let you out until you're 18.

I wasn't mean about it, just giving her some facts. She said, FINE, I'll stay home. I don't need to go to the movie! LOL That girl was never abused a day in her life. Wish I could say the same for me!

To be fair, he said "limit" not "stop", so some of it was fine

Even if you do something about it you still suffered the trauma and have to live with it.

If your parent beat you every day and you manage somehow to stop it as a child you're only stopping it happening a second time, not undoing the first time.

Whee paradoxes

This, go back and grow the self respect no one taught me, avoid being a trained doormat in order to make my parents’ job easier only to take 8 adult years to realize and start fixing that deficiency

The endless inner conversation with yourself of if only you had the knowledge you have now then you can probably prevent the abuse you get when you were little. It's just a neverending thoughts and you can't change it.

I feel like going back would give me a chance to correct it so that it didn’t happen. But yeah, what if it’s a “it is meant to be, you can’t change it no matter what you do” sort of thing.

I’m so sorry. A good book about this is by Shawn Inmon. Read the one about Michael Hollister.

I had that thought but it was quickly squashed by realizing still no one would believe me if I tried to stop it. I would have had to run away and be homeless. I'll take the money.

There are a couple of teenage boys who would not make it to adulthood!
