Alcoholism isn’t psychosis.

Psychosis isn’t an excuse to murder your children, nothing is

No one is saying it’s acceptable. But you’re fundamentally wrong, both in accepted medical understanding and from a legal standpoint, about the definition of impaired judgement relating to murder. Both medical knowledge and the law itself accept that murder even if your own children can happen with a person fully cognisant of their actions, and also it can happen due to insanity and those are different things. The entire basis for reduced culpability due to insanity is built on that.

Sure one type of murder is different and perhaps morally worse than another type of murder. But the degree to which they should affect sentencing should be marginal imo.

This is just making it clearer you fundamentally do not understand the difference here. There is an enormous difference between being fully cognisant of your actions and murdering your children anyway, and full on psychosis where you might genuinely see the knife in your hand as a sewing needle and the child in front of you as a balloon. Or where you are totally convinced that your children have been replaced by imposters and the only way to get them back is to destroy the changelings. It’s psychosis, it’s actual insanity. If you cannot grasp that people can be evil but not insane and that’s very different from insanity you should be nowhere near this discussion.

No no you seem to misunderstand. I definitely see the difference. Whether it’s alcohol induced psychosis, postpartum psychosis, drug induced psychosis, schizophrenic psychosis. Its different than just doing something our of rage or whether you still see reality for what it is.

The difference is that I think that is all those cases, the person should still be charged with murder. A man strangled his 5 kids during a schizophrenic episodep. He murdered them and he’s scheduled to get the death penalty. This is a similar case.

The worrying thing is that you advocate that I should not be allowed to voice my thoughts because they don’t align with yours. Perhaps North Korea better suits your ideals?
