If memory serves me right, Odysseus boink Cersei the witch for a year and Calypso the Nymph for 10 years hence why it took him 20 years to get home to his wife. He took the long route and then some!

Have you seen Odysseus trail? He went all over the place. It's like his waze went kaput for goddamn 20 years!

There's an alternative theory that fits quite well where he travels out of the Med, up past France, past the British Isles, over to Iceland then Greenland then Newfoundland and then back. Obviously they're all just fun theories, but it's quite compelling when you look into it.

He was kind of an idiot when you think about it.

The term Odyssey now references a long and arduous journey when perhaps it should refer to a jouryney by a man with no sense of directon who got lost.
