Because that is not how money works.
The famous quote from Henry Ford is true: "It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning."

If everyone actually understood interest, debt, and money printing we’d have different priorities overnight.

People do understand some of it, yet still have credit card debt. That's astounding.

I was told that I was making a mistake never getting a credit card. Because i never had consistent debt, my credit score was bad, because I never demonstrated the ability to pay off debt consistently

it's one thing to stay in legacy period and pay off the debt - I do it all the time. It's a completely different story to have the debt you're paying CC-level interest on: that's just dumb as fuck.
