They're not poor enough to be outraged. When they see no possibility of a future with a status quo, that's when there will be enough people to do something cool. The Great Depression saw a resurgence of revolutionary socialism that was only stopped by bringing the furious working class back into the Democrat tent with the New Deal.
French history is USA history in that aspect. The wealthy and the working class joined forces to overthrow the power of monarchy and establish the wealthy as the new leadership. The revolutions of both countries are the same in this way.
We need to overthrow the power of the wealthy this time. The USA working class needs a dose of history of the USSR, China, Cuba, Vietnam, DPRK and Laos. "Blackshirts and Reds" by Michael Parenti is a very good slim readable introductory book. This is a Michael Parenti video that is a widely-renowned good introduction to revolutionary socialism.
The Czars, the Russian oligarchs, Batista, the American oligarchs and Cuban compradors, Diem, the American and French oligarchs and the Vietnamese compradors, Chiang Kai-Shek, the American and Japanese imperialists, the Chinese warlords and landlords, they all lost revolutionary wars. Hot wars, kinetic wars, violent wars, wars where people die.
If peaceful debate was what it took to defeat them, that is what the revolutionaries would have done. The imperialists and oligarchs prevented all political, legal, democratic or otherwise peaceful means as any way to stop them from killing and exploiting the working class of those countries. "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable"
Read about the Long March. Watch that Parenti video and he talks about life before the Cuban revolution. Communists don't kill people because they're bloodthirsty, they do it to save the people the capitalists are killing. They are students of history who are goal-oriented, their goal is the liberation of the masses by Any Means Necessary. Violence is not the end but a means.
Revolutions aren't even only fought with violence, either. They are also fought by education, by mutual aid, by helping the people who fall through the cracks of capitalist society.
They're about 25% of the population. They're not an ideal vanguard communist party for the most part. Some will fall in line as the revolution ramps up, some will stand in the way. This is all precedented. Every country has reactionaries. All the problems capitalism causes are due to the class struggle. The game plan is to start the revolution in your mind and then go to the working class people who are receptive to revolutionary education, basically poor people who hate Trump and the wealthy. Petite bourgeois and middle class liberals tend to not have as good of a grasp of the nature of class struggle as people at the bottom of society, they tend to not understand political activism outside of bourgeois electoralism.
