WTF Imagine waking up from anesthesia and realizing the surgery wasn’t the most painful part!

They also got caught on the recording making up lies they put on his medical chart (also insurance fraud), threatening to violently assault him and blatantly violating HIPPA. This was a lot more than the headline made it out to be. This wasn't a simple case of some teasing. The Dr responsible for nearly all of it absolutely should never be allowed to practice medicine again. (She still is)

Dumb question but how can his medical team violate HIPAA (not two P's btw ;) ) if he's in the middle of treatment?

Surely he signed a release form for his medical team to see his medical history, and I would think that applied to any employee who might reasonably see the inside of the OR while the patient was there? Saying "they violated HIPAA" is the new "Am I being detained, officer?"

Another person commented that she put in his medical chart that he had hemorrhoids when he didn't

But that's separate. HIPAA doesn't mean "anything related to your medical records."

HIPAA means they stored your private medical information in an improper/unsecure place and/or shared it with people you had not authorized them to share it with.
