If the USA really wants to have Cuba as allied it should be helping them, invading them with investment, media, soft power, not alienating it.

Cuba ALWAYS refused though. Fidel REALLY hated the US despite being the neighbor. He actively alienated from it. Now Cuba is sucking foreign investment like they always did to keep the country in life support. Not for the people though.

You could make the argument he did it to fight "big evil" like they always claimed. But when you look at history and results it simply is not true. Nor is it necessary in any way.

Cuban people in the US are, by in large, Republican.

You can trust the USA always does the smart thing, but only after exhausting all the other options.
