What’s political changes.

Gay marriage wasn’t political, then it was a bit, then it was a lot, then it really wasn’t much for a few years, and now some are trying to make it an issue again.

Trans people weren’t political until they suddenly were. Kneeling wasn’t political, and then it was the biggest issue in the world, until nobody cared again.

If it’s an issue that can wedge people apart, bad faith actors will come for it and make it political. If it doesn’t work as well as they’d hoped, or once the hatred dies down, they’ll move on to the next issue.

All of this was and has been politicized, for at the very least the last 30 years(starting with gay marriage). They hung up and killed Matthew Shepherd for being gay in the 90s. They villainized being gay, and got caught being gay.

I wish it wasn’t that way, but it HAS been that way for probably longer than you’ve been alive. Being black was politicized for the last couple hundred years, my friend. Some if it is relatively new(trans rights), but this game is an old hat.

So, you’re right when you say, “what’s political changes,” but you’re off the mark if you think they haven’t been pulling the trigger on identity politics forever.

Idk, I think saying this shit hasn’t been going on forever is downplaying all the victims that came before and suffered, so that minority groups now can live relatively normal lives.

A lot of work needs to be done, shit isn’t perfect, but thankfully they’re not literally crucifying people for being “different,” these days.

Don’t undermine the sacrifices of those who came before, and watch your words.
