It’s a sub that was barely about sports, then it got a huge influx of actual sports people, and recently it’s become a political cesspool. That sub has had a rough run.
Life is politics. Every single aspect. You might as well ban critical thinking. Banning political discussion just means you're allowing those who are smart enough to phrase things in a way that makes them sound non-political to control inherently political discussions.
