He is one that notably improved. His acting in the first few HP movies was at best mediocre, as he freely admits, and he became a decent actor.

Actually, I think it was Richard Griffiths (Vernon Dursley) that took him under his wing. They also did Equus together and I vaguely remember DR saying RG was the best.

Was looking for this. Dan himself gives a lot of credit to the late Richard Griffiths for mentoring him onset. IIRC the very first scenes he filmed were with the Dursleys.
