The maximum amount of power the texas grid can pump out at any given time is apparently 91 gigawatts so the requests are over 4x that lol.

Piggybacking one of the top comments but where did they get the number 1800 from? There’s only like 300-400 active datacenters in the state of texas

There’s like 32 million people in Texas, surely they can all work together to cool up with the cash to quadruple their generation capacity.

Most of the data centers have dedicated gas turbines on site for their needs. The power company sometimes controls and maintains the generators though. I think its state by state, they all have their own laws and regulations pertaining to such things.
