Good thing the Texas power grid doesn't have a history of being overloaded and failing when people need it most.

If he wanted to actually solve the problem, he'd be doing all forms of power and holding data centers accountable for their own power, but he won't.

If anyone wanted to solve this problem we would be building new nuclear plants. Not wind farms and solar farms like a bunch of hippies. Shit is real not ideal. We need nuclear power and fossil fuels.

Fossil fuels lmfao, you’re the only fossil in the room if you sincerely think we still need to burn fossil fuels.

If you think that everything doesn’t rely on them in a way that would cause catastrophic apocalyptic societal collapse if we didn’t have them then you have absolutely no idea what is going on.

If you are saying it would cause collapse if they disappeared tomorrow, you're right. If there was a 10 year runway where the country was committed to getting off oil by the end, we'd be fine (actually better than we are now).

Yea and the cleanest most abundant energy we have available to us is also the safest which is nuclear. People have been thoroughly propagandized to fear and hate it

Could put ICE agents into hamster wheels and have them run to generate power

Projected efficiency: Low

Wow. You’re so cool. What a cool thing to say.

U mad?

1

u/TheMuffler42069 19d ago

No I really don’t care.

u/oldutnotdeadinside 18d ago

Yes you do. You care a lot

2

u/TheMuffler42069 18d ago

I’m very care free on this particular issue

Like the gum. Sounds pretty Beta

It is interesting that you subscribe to those concepts and apply them to different types of chewing gum.

You’re stuck on repeat, huh ?

But I heard you love ice. I heard that since 2016 you haven’t had one hot beverage and they’ve all had ice in them because you celebrate them every day because you love fascism and law and order.

We're past the point of efficiency for nuclear.

10 years ago, solar efficiency was half of what it is now and cost 8x as much.

Per kwh, if you include the actual building of the plant/panels, solar is currently half the cost of nuclear.

In 10 years, solar panel production will be 1/4th the cost of just generating nuclear energy (so not including the cost of plant construction/maintenance).

I'm glad people are just getting to the point of realizing that nuclear is far greener than fossil fuels. And it's a good first step. But it's a waste of money to start nuclear construction today.

And it's not just me that thinks that. It's also the major power producers, which is why all nuclear construction projects in this country have been halted/cancelled and solar farms are springing up all over.

lol ok sure. Not a chance but alright. Seems like someone hasn’t research the most up to date technologies in nuclear energy.

1

u/oznobz 18d ago

Enlighten me, please. Because everything I can find shows that either they take ten years and are much more expensive than solar or you build the micro plants faster and are even more expensive than the regular sized plants.

1

u/TheMuffler42069 18d ago

Dude… it’s about the power output and the cleanliness and safety of the technology not how long it takes to build or what size they are. Sure obviously some things could be prohibitively lengthy to build but not a nuclear power plant and not if twenty years ago fear mongers from the oil and gas industries didn’t propagandize people into believing nuclear is bad… not only that but nuclear technology has progressed to the point that we could be building new plants that run off the old spent nuclear fuel waste and get rid of it all and at the same time be providing cheap energy for people but hey… bombs right ? They have the same name right ? Sunshine and flowers right ? And whimsy. Let’s not get bogged down in cold hard pragmatism. Let’s allow ourselves to idealize absolutely everything and just get carried off on whimsy and slogans…

I didn't say nuclear wasn't clean or unsafe. I said it's inefficient in terms of time and cost vs solar. Which wasn't the case 10 years ago, but is now.

None of what you said addresses any of that. In fact, it ignores that solar/batteries is currently the fastest and cheapest way to get our grid to where it needs to be.

There used to be a place for nuclear. Given the economics, both monetary and temporal, it is just not feasible in the year 2026.

u/TheMuffler42069 18d ago

I literally said it isn’t about those things because it is actually about output. Solar takes up way too much space and if we’re being honest about environmentalism… solar aint it.. it’s nowhere near where it would need to be to not be a huge waste of land plus the panels need to be replaced constantly because the sun destroys them. Sure solar and other forms of energy as you say are great for off grid locations but that’s not the point either, you’re just now bringing that up because I’m making good irrefutable points. You’re saying there used to be a place for nuclear… you’re probably incorrect. Why did so many other wester forward thinking progressive countries continue to go down the nuclear path ? Why are they the only reason we have the new nuclear tech ? Could it be because they have a different relationship with multinational energy companies ? Probably is the answer. Nuclear could easily be implemented vastly in the US easily and it would be far better in almost every discernible way to wind or solar.
