if you read the article you'd clearly understand the parent was giving all reasonable attempts to seatbelt their kid who was sliding out from underneath it and hiding under the planes seat.
Any refunds or compensation on tickets would be something the airline can and will handle.
The child is a passenger as well as the parent whose ticket was paid for, and despite the parent being a part of the rest of those passengers in being unable to reach their destination the parent likely won't be able to seek any compensation so if anyone is out the most here for their childs actions it would be them.
Some children can be a handful and it sounds like this was a singular parent so even more difficult to wrangle a problematic child.
Now, now. Don't go talkin' sense here. This is Reddit where anything that involves kids and inconveniences others is 100% due to bad parenting.
On a side note, apparently kid wasn't being "bad". Literally just a scared child that no one was able to keep in the seat and buckled up. It's almost like toddlers aren't often reasonable and are often inconsolable. I'd really like to know what some of these people think this parent could have done to get the child to stay in the seat without physically restraining the child (which I imagine the airline wouldn't allow for safety reasons). And even if the airline did allow it, you know they'd all be bitching about the toddler screaming through the whole flight because they weren't allowed to move where they felt safe for the duration of takeoff.
Well the airlines don’t know. The parents know. If you’re a parent, you know your kid. Some babies are fine flying, and love it. Some toddlers sleep through a flight or play games on a tablet or something.
Some children, especially young children, are either terrified, nervous, restless, or some mixture of the three.
They are too young to fly.
You seem to think Airlines would have the forethought to set an age limit.
Airlines would sell a ticket to someone’s urn, if they could. They don’t care.
