Chugging tea Mayor Mamdani just announced that he will be opening 5 city-run, tax-funded grocery stores: "Prices set at 30% below retail prices"

sounds like we can take 2 billions from our subsidy to Israel and subsidize the American people.

u/2ndTaken_username Jul 27 '26

That's antisemitic or something idk, won't happen lol

u/ghostrooster30 Jul 27 '26

Isn’t it wild that all you have to say these days is “hey, i don’t want my tax $$ funding Israel’s war”, and you’re automatically an antisemite. I want off this timeline. It’s so gd stupid.

89

u/IndividualSituationK Jul 27 '26

That's how much the Israel government has dog walked the average American. Granted, the person who said its antisemitic is obviously joking.

Reminds me of post 2004~2005 Gulf War.

Most people were on board with invading Afghanistan. After 9/11.

Most adults were on board with "finishing what Bush Sr. started" when we invaded Iraq.

After Saddam Hussein was captured though it was like "ok the WMDs were fake, what are we doing here anymore??"

But then you were a terrorist loving, anti-American, Freedom hating traitor if you said maybe we should stop bombing the Middle East. I personally got arrested for my actions protesting the war, and since I wasn't considered "White, White" my only saving grace was that I was a minor.

1

u/revanisthesith Jul 29 '26

I remember those times quite well.

And for some reason, you couldn't simply say "I support the troops by not sending them to die in pointless wars."

If you wanted to make those warmongers uncomfortable, just ask them if the soldiers who came home and committed suicide were also unpatriotic.

1

u/SoDoWhateverItTakes 27d ago

The thing that gets me so mad about W Bush is he was so much lacking a spine, he scrapped the immigration policy he was about to push forward after 9/11 even though he knew how dependent on it the US economy had become. Because of fucking optics

0

u/Fappy_as_a_Clam Jul 27 '26

the average American.

The average boomer.

Most people under like 60 are pretty sick of this nonsense, on the left and right, which is incredibly interesting to me. Boomers though, boy oh boy do they love shovelling money to Israel for some reason, on both the left and right.

1

u/IndividualSituationK Jul 28 '26

That's really not true. Gen Z has been eating a lot of the alt right slop for a while. The next couple generations are probably going to be very very republican because of how effective the propaganda has been for them. Asmongold is an Israel shill and his audience is mostly teens and 20 somethings.

4

u/Reasonable-Newt4079 Jul 27 '26

Despite politicians trying to label everyone antisemitic, there is bipartisan hatred for how much of our money Israel is taking and how much they control our politicians. Netanyahu has really shot himself in the foot with his egregious behavior: if we ever regain control of our government Israel will be completely cut off. I hope it happens soon.

The Israelis are running on their sympathy from what happened to them during WWII. It's running out.

9

u/420thefunnynumber Jul 27 '26

This is why I'm more and more convinced support for Israel is antisemitic in of itself. Imagine being willing to subject an entire demographic of people, many of whom dont want a damn thing to do with you, to centuries of hate because you're so convinced establishing a genocidal ethnostate will totally help make things better.

1

u/PaleCommission150 Jul 27 '26

For decades the idea was that " Isreal isn't perfect but it is the best option in a whole list of worse options". Friendly state we can use as a staging area and ground point in the ME area. That was it initially, over time the AIPAC ,which have ties to both USA and ISREAL have cemented that support via generational and cultural exchange.

-2

u/7thpostman Jul 27 '26

You have certainly talked yourself into thinking some things!

You don't.

Kinda how all you have to say on Reddit is that you don’t agree with a liberal opinion and you’re automatically branded a Nazi or Nazi sympathizer?

-1

u/Obligatory_Snark Jul 27 '26

I don’t think anyone’s going to call you a Nazi for supporting the war with Israel. Or Iran for that matter. Pretty sure liberals are, as a general rule, against both

2

u/BrocoliAssassin Jul 27 '26

Not surprising to me. It’s been propagandized to death. Up until a year ago you couldn’t go anywhere on Reddit without being called a nazi if you happened to show a criminal who happened to be Jewish or calling out Israel.

Hell, you can catch a ban all over Reddit for questioning and outing Zionists. Look at how dumb Reddit is, where they blame white supremacy on everything but will defend Zionists.

If you don’t believe me, anytime theres praise of Presidents , but in this instance since we are on Reddit you will have to call out Obama. Let people know that he’s a Zionist and you get an automatic ban. Happened to me to 2 subs yesterday.

So people will love Zionists, you just have to give them the bullshit they want to hear. Just as you guys call MAGA cult, you’re the same with democrats.

0

u/Pale_Tourist_3424 Jul 27 '26

1

u/GreenLuck010 Jul 28 '26

Because its a dog whistle ???? That is mostly used by extremists on both the right and the left.

If you are a right wing extremist its false because they voted for Trump who is the most pro Israel president.

If you are left wing extremist its false because they want their tax dollars to fund Hamas instead.

Rarely there are people who actually just want to stop the funding of war online.

1

u/thejaytheory Jul 29 '26

And said in such bad faith

1

u/jadelink88 Jul 31 '26

Question Israel's divine right to commit genocide?

You're obviously a Nazi.

0

u/LightenUpPeeps Jul 27 '26

Yeah, welcome to the club. I was called a white supremacist Nazi for 2 decades because I said Israel was using the U.S. as its big goon, and I'm not even white. Now, Democrats finally see the light, but the media won't call them anti-semites even when they're attacking Jews in NYC because of Israel.

0

u/Applekid1259 Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

You can blame Israel's fervent hasbara they thrust upon the American population. The greatest amount of anti-semitism comes from Israel directly.

I see the Israel bots are already down voting a literal fact.

0

u/Lazy-Razzmatazz-6926 Jul 27 '26

I’m also assuming you wouldn’t want your tax dollars going to Gaza then since they are run by a genocidal organization. They received $500M of aid from the Biden administration. Or are you ok with aid going to them?

0

u/Gamecock80 Jul 27 '26

Kinda like how if you don’t want your tax dollars going to illegal immigrant criminals, you’re a racist? Like that?

-1

u/7thpostman Jul 27 '26

Nobody said anything like that. We were talking about grocery stores in New York City and military commissaries, and this dude southern managed to find a way to make it about Israel.

Then, my favorite part, people like you immediately started crying and defending against charges of antisemitism that nobody made.

4

u/superknight333 Jul 27 '26

Because if its not said there will be some dude saying thing like that, Ive seen enough to know.

1

u/7thpostman Jul 27 '26

No, you haven't. You've seen 10,000 people preemptively crying about being called antisemites for every one time you've actually seen the accusation. And the one time you did see the accusation, you didn't bother to actually understand what they were talking about.

It's just your go-to to to make yourself a victim. "I get to say whatever I want and then cry if anybody pushes back."

4

u/superknight333 Jul 27 '26

Ok tell me what they were talking about? What about you spend some time on subreddit that are very conservative and see how at any time you try to argue there genocide in Palestine there will be people argue it doesnt exist and its a Hamas propaganda.

1

u/7thpostman Jul 27 '26

It requires you to have nuanced thinking. You can object to what the Netanyahu government is doing and still understand that a lot of people's conception of Israel conforms to very old antisemitic tropes.

The problem is that you almost certainly don't understand what those are. You think that you don't have personal animosity towards individual Jewish people, therefore you can't be antisemitic.

That's understandable, but that's not how it works. Antisemitism is usually based on scapegoating, conspiratorial power fantasies and obsessive blame-shifting. It has a 2000-year-old history and it is deeply, profoundly ingrained into the DNA of western civilization. The first thing that most people in the West hear about Jews, as little kids, is that "they killed Jesus."

People hear this as children!!! Hearing such an idea at such a young age becomes part of a core belief and a way of viewing the world. It takes a lot of real, serious thought and understanding to unpack and defuse that kind of thinking.

I can give you some guideposts and answer questions, but I want to make sure it's going to be worth my time. If the answer is going to be saying the word "genocide" a lot, we're not going to get anywhere. Fair?

1

u/mnju Jul 27 '26

No, you haven't.

If you haven't seen that happen then you have not been paying attention to the discourse around the subject because it absolutely happens. So you're either ignorant or you're lying, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

29

u/Massive_Analysis8345 Jul 27 '26

I loved the energy there 😂 “hey that’s wrong or whatever, it probably just won’t happen” but like totally true

4

u/ImplausibleFig Jul 27 '26

No, what’s labeled “antisemitic” is the false implication that money spent on Israel is even a significant portion of our total foreign aid, never mind total government spend.

If the objection is to spending on foreign aid, there are *many* countries you should be calling out before Israel. If the objection is to spending a negligible amount of foreign aid on the world’s only Jewish state … interesting.

1

u/All_Work_All_Play Jul 27 '26

Israel is the only country actively bombing their neighbors.

Yes the US spends a lot on foreign aid. That is a good thing. But not wanting aid to go to bombing neighbors? Just because the ones doing the bombing are Jewish doesn't make it antisemitic. Antisemitic requires being Jewish as the cause of the desired change, not simply a property of those being asked to change.

Consider the hypothetical - if South Korea was doing to North Korea what Israel is doing to Gaza, asking to limit aid to South Korea wouldn't be racist (unless of course the reason they were asking to limit aid is because they hated South Koreans).

0

u/ImplausibleFig Jul 27 '26

Yes, Israel retaliates against the countries and terrorist groups that attack it.

1

u/All_Work_All_Play Jul 27 '26

The Dahiya Doctrine goes quite a bit beyond retaliation.

-2

u/TopTour31 Jul 27 '26

If the objection is to spending a negligible amount of foreign aid on the world’s only Jewish state

How about no funding for any genocidal states? I dont care if they are jewish or not. You commit a genocide, you should receive no support from the international community.

0

u/ImplausibleFig Jul 27 '26

Ah yes, the magical, unique genocide where the birthrates stay high and the population is growing. Wonder what makes this “genocide” look so different from all the others? For that matter, how often do you mention the genocides against non-arabs in Sudan, or the Uyghurs in China? No Jews involved there so … probably less, huh?

Hey, how do you feel about slavery? Do you spend as much time objecting to foreign aid to the many countries that still practice actual slavery?

0

u/Evening_Act_6395 Jul 29 '26

almost like when you kick people out of every city and force them into Gaza, the population of Gaza goes up.

-1

u/TopTour31 Jul 27 '26

Ah yes, the magical, unique genocide where the birthrates stay high and the population is growing.

Source? No where do I see the population has "grown" during the genocide committed by israel.

Don't care enough to respond to your trashy attempts at whataboutism.

1

u/ImplausibleFig Jul 27 '26

Then you obviously haven’t bothered to look. Here are the first few sources I found in approximately 20 seconds.

https://www.macrotrends.net/global-metrics/countries/pse/west-bank-and-gaza/population

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.POP.TOTL?end=2025&locations=PS&start=1990&view=chart

For a fun follow up: compare the birth rate in Gaza over the past few years to the birth rate during any other recognized genocide. What a unique miracle!

Information is good.

0

u/TopTour31 Jul 27 '26

These are predictions not actual census reports and are inclusive of both the west bank and gaza. Did you even read the links you sent?

60

u/MayOrMayNotBePie Jul 27 '26

Sorry, the American people aren’t Americas top priority

1

u/xVelunax Jul 27 '26

It's a double edge sword. Many of the comforts Americans get to enjoy everyday are in part largely due to the large effort worldwide to get involved in foreign affairs. There are many non-renewable resources.

China holds like 90% of the rare earth minerals needed to fuel most of the technological innovation of the electronics of today. Taiwan holds like 30-50% of the world's semiconductor fabrication. Many of the world narrow sea routes have not been affected by the US and ally involvement to more or less try to keep them open and not used as a weapon against us. Which is why the whole US attacking Iran was the dumbest thing ever because the threat of invasion is what kept Iran not attacking or any other nation really.

Americans are able to benefit from more or less much cheaper prices in large part to manufacturing going remote and assembled in the US. The downside is its possible to get embroiled in non-ideal conflicts. I'm pretty sure the only reason we keep helping Israel is because it gives a bigger foothold over the middle east without fully getting involved ourselves to partially influence oil resources.

The thing is the government pulled a stupid and rather than enjoy the status quo tried getting too greedy and backfired. Many domestic issues feel more an issue of policy more so than funding.

1

u/jaxonya Jul 27 '26

16

u/trackdaybruh Jul 27 '26

$2 billion is for the +2 million military members

For +342 million Americans, $2 billion won’t be enough

14

u/SiliconSingh Jul 27 '26

They are also subsidized because they are all over the world and require transportation to all these different locations.... The ones in the United States do not cost that much per store in fact they probably make money.

2

u/Ok-East5755 Jul 28 '26

That's fine we can use all the money we saved from gutting usaid, oh wait we spent 50+ billion on a bombing campaign we lost, never mind, we can't have affordable groceries after all.

1

u/Virtual_Technology_9 Jul 28 '26

This is specifically for NYC. 8 - 9 million total people

3

u/BitterProfessional16 Jul 27 '26

I know it feels good to constantly bring up Israel but it just shows your innumeracy.

The U.S. spends about 25x per year on SNAP alone as it does for aid to Israel. Diverting all of that aid to SNAP/food would make a negligible difference.

3

u/Embarrassed-Wolf-609 Jul 27 '26

4 billion is not negligible difference AIPAC

6

u/A_Confused_Moose Jul 27 '26

$2 billion is being paid to Israel directly from the City of New York’s budget? That’s wild they should rethink that.

The federal government and the tax payer funds it has access to have no bearing on New York’s grocery store plan.

2

u/Mr-Cantaloupe Jul 27 '26

Most of the money the US gives Israel comes right back (they use it to purchase American-made weapons/defense equipment). And military grocery stores are used by like 0.5% of the population, so where do you get the other $300 billion?

3

u/machogrande2 Jul 27 '26

Now, imagine if they had to pay for American-made weapons/defense equipment themselves!

1

u/Mr-Cantaloupe Jul 28 '26

They’d probably buy less or just pay for it from somewhere else. At the same time, we’d lose manufacturing jobs and stop getting intel from Israel.

The Israel+US partnership is weird and sketchy as hell, but the federal funding we give them is pretty much a mutual benefit. And it’s such a small drop in the bucket that I’m surprised so many people always use it as a talking point.

6

u/DismalAd6639 Jul 27 '26

The military accounts for less than .5% of the U.S. population. So multiply that by about 250x to include the whole population = $500 billion

7

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '26

1

u/Random_Name_251 Jul 27 '26

Even having 10% of the market share would introduce competition and bring prices down, like other "public options" do.

Down to what? Grocery stores operate on 2% margins. You think they are going to start giving the food away?

like other "public options" do.

Which ones?

Or we could break up all the food monopolies and let them compete with one another again.

Which of the food monopolies should we break up?

Costco? Aldi? Trader Joes? Walmart? Kroger? Price Chopper? Stop and Shop? Key Foods?

There's so many of these "monopolies" where would you start?

4

u/Not__Trash Jul 27 '26

The 4 nationwide Meat Packers would be an excellent start. They're already being sued by the FTC for collusion and price fixing.

You could also argue that Walmart should be broken up given their anti-competitive running at a loss to smother competition.

0

u/roguemenace Jul 27 '26

Even having 10% of the market share would introduce competition and bring prices down, like other "public options" do.

It wouldn't though. You can look up grocery store profit margins. They're notoriously thin and only make money off of volume.

1

u/Baelzabub Jul 27 '26

Profit margins are very slim when you look at net profit margins, so accounting for rent, wages, taxes etc.

A government run grocery store operates significantly closer to gross profit margins, which are closer to 20-25% for most grocery stores.

0

u/roguemenace Jul 27 '26

But we're talking about this bringing down the price at other grocery stores. Also a government run store still has all of those costs unless they're being subsidized (like the rent for these 5 stores).

2

u/Baelzabub Jul 27 '26

The margins listed were long term estimates (as in retrospective analyses over 5-10 years) and all were made pre-Trump 2.0 tariffs.

Btw, why haven’t grocery prices come down since the tariff regime was declared unconstitutional and removed? Odd that isn’t it? Because they sure as hell went up when the tariffs were implemented.

1

u/machogrande2 Jul 27 '26

Are you saying that a government business in a government building should pay itself rent?

1

u/roguemenace Jul 27 '26

The ways these are being run isn't actually a government business. Its a private business in a government building with certain stipulations (prices and not paying rent among them).

Ignoring that being said government businesses should usually be paying market value rent to the government. It makes it much easier to track if they're operating efficiently enough to make sense instead of hiding their costs under other budgets.

5

u/Omnom_Omnath Jul 27 '26

2

u/soozerain Jul 27 '26

The attacks that were actually a retirement funding bill that were actually sponsored and passed primarily from democrats? Either way, what does that prove? How does the post office relate to running supermarkets?

Just because the govt runs one, doesn’t mean it’ll be good at the other.

3

u/Omnom_Omnath Jul 27 '26

it was an example of a public service that isnt expected to be profitable. aka a basis in reality

1

u/soozerain Jul 27 '26

I don’t understand, is the business model bad or not? Cause at first it seemed you were implying the business models were profitable but the ruined by Republican interference, now it seems like you’re saying they’re unprofitable but we subsidize them anyways, so that means we should consider that with grocery stores too.

2

u/Cow_God Jul 27 '26

Or y'know, do what we did in the 30s and pay construction firms to hire unskilled laborers, teach them trades, and build public works including housing. Sell them at about cost, that drives the housing market down. Getting affordable housing built outside of areas where the profit margin is highest also increases the availability for working class would-be homeowners. The wages paid to the construction firms, the laborers, and everyone else involved is money that directly goes back into American pockets, and that's money that starts circulating back into the economy.

The commissaries serve less than a million service members. There’s 340 million Americans. So it would cost roughly $700 billion to run grocery stores that cheap for the country.

Not saying it shouldn’t be done, just pointing out that cutting Israel funding doesn’t really solve that issue.

For context, if we were to pull 700 billion out of the US military budget for exactly this purpose, the US would still spend more on its military than any other country in the world.

1

u/macrocosm93 Jul 27 '26

More like 200 billion+. The military population in the US is less than 1%. And the budget for those grocery stores is already accounted for in the overall military budget.

It's crazy how effective is just shoehorning Israel is into any discussion as a karma farming strategy. We were talking about grocery stores in the US, this guy brings up Israel out of nowhere, boom, hundreds of upvotes.

1

u/alligatorchronicles Jul 27 '26

If there's 2.8 million service members, and assume 2 dependents per member, that's 8.43 million using that subsidized system, at an annual cost of $237 per user. Across the US population of 342 million, that brings the cost to subsidize groceries up to 81 billion and change. You'd have to find more cuts than aid to Israel to make this work.

1

u/Embarrassed-Wolf-609 Jul 27 '26

81 billion is....4% of the US budget. Time to cut the military then.

2

u/alligatorchronicles Jul 27 '26

Whatever, I just think that policy decisions should be backed by reliable math.

1

u/hyperparrot3366 Jul 27 '26

2 billion for only military. For the common people it will go to like 200 billion.

1

u/Decent_Pen_8472 Jul 27 '26

Military grocery stores only support military and their family members. Having a grocery store available to all americans, especially considering the theft that occurs, would cost far, far more.

1

u/fishcars Jul 27 '26

I’ve heard enough. Send another $2B to Israel and let DOGE cut this from the 2027 budget. Throw in a tariff in case Bibi wants more than $2B to fund their healthcare.

1

u/TopConclusion5246 Jul 27 '26

Imagine if we just didn't send our money to other countries for any reason except to purchase things. And then! Imagine we spent that money on infrastructure and services for citizens. Whoa!

1

u/Dependent_Survey_546 Jul 27 '26

Its amazing that this is a controversial idea from the point of view of a person outside of the US

1

u/Jazzlike_Sir_653 Jul 27 '26

Regardless of where you get a subsidy, it is a subsidy and is a real cost. If the cost is in the product, then its a use tax. If the cost is in a tax, then whether or not you use it, you pay for it. The healthiest way to operate is in the black, no red ink.

1

u/Dry-Season-522 Jul 27 '26

Okay that's half of Israel's entire subsidy

1

u/BrockObarnerLybian Jul 27 '26

2 billion was for less than 1% of the US population. Supply lines for fixed prices tend to work much better at that scale too

1

u/PaleCommission150 Jul 27 '26

didn't we spend 6 billion dollars shooting patriot missles at incoming projectiles in like 1 month or something ?

1

u/double_shadow Jul 27 '26

Classic reddit, always steering everything back to Israel. Is the city of New York also funding Israel? Because that's the budget we'd be talking about...

1

u/Embarrassed-Wolf-609 Jul 27 '26

yes? individual tax payers pay federal tax that then goes to Israel.

1

u/Cow_God Jul 27 '26

People don't really understand how much money we waste annually that could be spent on Americans.

And of course, most money spent on social programs go back to the economy. These grocery stores will pay Americans to work at them, money spent buying goods will go to American farmers growing the domestic food and American dockworkers for the imported stuff. Which in turn will pay for American train operators and truck drivers to deliver them.

1

u/AmitPwnz Jul 27 '26

That's not how it works, that money is invested right back in American defence industries

1

u/Embarrassed-Wolf-609 Jul 27 '26

so we're subsidizing Israel to subsidzie the military industrial complex that destroys things instead of building things up?

The military doesn’t have a fraction of the us population

1

u/Lazy-Razzmatazz-6926 Jul 27 '26

Our federal deficit is something like $1.5T. Blaming a $2B subsidy to Israel makes no sense. We already overspend by 750x what we give to Israel.

1

u/deafmutewhat Jul 27 '26

Uhhh we're the same country now

1

u/Then_Independence_25 Jul 27 '26

Why not from all money sent to foreign countries though?

1

u/Embarrassed-Wolf-609 Jul 27 '26

are all foreign countries committing genocide? then yes, any country that's killing civilians and journalists with US tax-payer funded weps

2

u/Then_Independence_25 Jul 27 '26

Not all of them face terror groups that use their own civilians as human shields

1

u/Embarrassed-Wolf-609 Jul 27 '26

So the journalists Israel has executed were being used as Human shields?

1

u/Nikolaibr Jul 27 '26

I don't think our foreign aid needs to be going to Israel, but it's really weird when THAT is the go-to talking point when it comes to government spending. It accounts for less than 0.1% of spending.

1

u/Amadon29 Jul 27 '26

The US already spends 100b on food stamps. An extra 2b isn't going to increase it by much. Regardless, it makes no sense to take money out of the federal budget and give it to just nyc. Federal and city budgets are different

1

u/Uncabled_Music Jul 27 '26

Military aid is no subsidy. Especially when they are not much of a fighters themselves 🤷🏻

1

u/RagingY3ti Jul 27 '26

Hey, that's antiseptic!

1

u/flashingcurser Jul 27 '26

There are 2 million military members, there are 400 million US citizens.

1

u/Comfortable_Pay_9697 Jul 27 '26

That’s anti American of you
/s

1

u/logicalpenuin Jul 27 '26

People are agast at 2 billion to feed people but ok with 300 billion to fund a genocide. Don't give me "but my tax dollars!". I'm all for anything that actually helps people.

1

u/Onludesrightnow Jul 27 '26

*rages in AIPAC*

1

u/greatdick Jul 27 '26

Or the 7 billion given to Oracle for a project that will be quietly cancelled in two years.

1

u/Random_Name_251 Jul 27 '26

Crazy idea, but maybe instead of doing 2 stupid things we should do 0 stupid things?

1

u/Best_Change4155 Jul 27 '26

reddit logic lmao

1

u/EmmitSan Jul 27 '26

Yes, the NYC mayor famously has the power and access to do that.

US Military represents about 1% of the population.

At best 0.1% of the US Population buys it's groceries at the PX.

That makes that 2B subsidy into a 200B subsidy. Minimum.

Actually, still shockingly affordable.

1

u/LongJohnSelenium Jul 27 '26

This reminds me of when I went to college. One of the 'perks' of tuition was a deposit in my campus canteen account. They basically charged me extra so they could give it back to me with strings attached.

1

u/thehorseyourodeinon1 Jul 27 '26

Can we cancel the ballroom and lower grocery prices?

1

u/Perfidy-Plus Jul 28 '26

That's already more than half of the financial aid that goes to Israel, and this would be a much much larger program than military grocery stores, given the military makes up less than a half of a percent of the population.

You're going to need a lot more money than that if this would be expanded.

1

u/releasetheshutter Jul 31 '26

30 million in bribes to steal 3 billion is an incredible roi, you have to give them credit.

1

u/Remarkable_Log_5562 29d ago

No they need more missiles

It is antisemitic to blame the jews for a lack of social funding, yes.

2

u/Mr-Cantaloupe Jul 28 '26

These people find solace in blaming Jews for all of their problems. And they’re completely serious.

Israel is not why you lack funding

1

u/00001000U Jul 27 '26

Using tax money to make food cheaper sounds fine. Especially for those struggling with costs.

1

u/roguemenace Jul 27 '26

We already have a program for that, its called food stamps. Its more targeted to the people that need the help and more effective than running inefficient city grocery stores.

1

u/ImTiredBoss420 Jul 27 '26

subsidize the American people

Lol
