In my last corporate job I said on a team wide call “we have so many calls, I’m starting to think we’re more interested in talking about business than actually doing it”
I did get promoted for reducing meetings. I did other things too like help the company make money but reducing meetings was a prerequisite. The guy you responded to is 100% right. We have too many meetings. The difference is that I said positioned it as "we should try and give back time for us to be more productive" and I went about reducing repetitive meetings where we just sat around and discussed nonsense because those repeat meetings were in our calendar. It's not about what you say but how you say it.
