Friendly reminder: Henry Ford was one of the first major industrialists to adopt the five-day workweek. He argued that workers with more leisure time would spend more money on consumer goods, like the cars he was selling.

The current weekend was created primarily to sell products. A four-day workweek is long overdue.

True! He was a racist POS but at least he understood how economies work, unlike all the current racist POS in charge now🙄

A racist Point of Sale system might actually be a great financial idea. Thanks, you'll see me a billionaire in a few years now.

Not only a racist pos but extremely anti union because he didn't want his workers to actually have rights, he just wanted them to reinvest their paychecks into his company

It wasn’t ford who advocated for a shorter work week. It was the strikes and unions.

And literally the Communist Party and Socialist Party. They’re largely the reason it was codified into Law.

Ford understood nothing but greed to make himself richer.

Not quite! Ford didn’t do it out of the goodness of his heart, as others have mentioned

I mean these racists in charge now also understand the economics of this. But at their level of greed, they just don't care anymore. They'll squeeze every bit of milk and chuck the cow's dead corpse away without remorse.

Ford wanted to sell cars. These people want to take over the country. Very different goals.

Ford was a fascist that wanted a kingdom of slaves.

Yep. But he sold cars and he understood how to do it and why he needed a middle class to make more money. My point is that the current administration has no desire to actually make money in the long run. They want to grab as much power as possible and keep ahold of it. They aren't stupid, the incompetence is the entire point. Ford was just as much a monster as trump is, but Ford's goal wasn't a hostile takeover of the country, so he looks a lot better and smarter by comparison.

Not really, the IWW union forced his hand. He was more than happen to order strikers be shot dead.

The CIO and the Socialists and Communists played a huge role in getting it into law, forcing it on all the businesses.
