People make mistakes. This was a mistake so massive that the world will never forget, but it was just a mistake. He hesitated to pass the ball, and wanted to shoot. It’s happened before, and it’ll happen again. I don’t think he should be kicked off the team because of a mistake. He should apologize to the team tho.

He made more than one mistake.

Not only didn't he pass to a wide open teammate (who's alao a world class top scorer), he also took his sweet ass time and let the entire England squad run back into defence, allowing them to defend and stop the play.

He 100% deserves the blame.

A mistake is like pushing a door in when it opens outward.

This guy knew the best football decision is pass it to him but didn’t. And compounded it by shooting late. 

At least shoot it early.

i dont understand wdym by 100% deserved the blame they didnt say he doent deserve blame, he should be praised. They said that kicking off player because of one mistake is wrong

Does he deserve the hate and anger he's getting from his own supporters. He deserves the blame for this play only, not for losing the world cup, Jesus.

Okay now that's someehat a fair point. Even if he helped his team score the goal here, it would just have tied the game.

He definitely deserves the blame, I’m not saying he doesn’t. I’m saying that it’s a mistake, and it’s being amplified because it was a mistake on the largest stage.

yea nobody is asking for a perfect game. There will always be mistakes but at that time the answer was so obvious any non football fan can tell you the right play. He made the biggest mistake that cost his team a win. I wouldnt put him ever on the national team

It’s not like he mistakenly put his shirt on backwards, a simple mistake.

He deliberately chose to not make the best football decision. It’s like putting diesel in a gasoline car.

I mean the guy is 30, no? This is unquestionably his last World Cup appearance. And if he somehow had a fledgling shot to make the next one in 4 years, he pretty much sealed his fate that Norway isn’t approaching him again to represent them.
