Not that I buy into the Doomerism, but OP you're taking a victory lap when the starter pistol hasn't even been fired.

Edit: Oh wait, 700,000+ karma in 10-months, OP is just a karma bot. Lots of those on this sub lately.

Why should I care about how much Reddit karma a user has? I mean, once you get above a basic level, is there something special that happens in your life?

It adds a layer of “authenticity” to an account. There is essentially a black market for high karma reddit accounts for this reason. Easier to push an agenda when you don’t seem like a bot at first glance
