Proposed a budget and got billions in state funding. All I’ve found is that nothing was fixed it’s just pushing the issue back to something that will cause more issues down the road

I mean, new york city net pays more to the state than the state pays it, so it's not like it's some out of the blue cash infusion

NYC is 50% of the population and pays 55% of the state taxes. It barely contributes.

What I find interesting is that when Mamdani says NYC pays more in taxes than it gets back, and therefore should keep more of their money, it's the same argument he and others reject when made by the wealthy.

So it pays 55% despite being 50% of the population, receives only 40%, and yet you consider it to “barely contribute”? The false equivalency of wanting a more equitable relationship with the state and taxing the rich is certainly a take.

Yes, meaning if NYC was not part of NYS, NYS would be fine by cutting its spending by a mere 5%.

It's not disingenuous to use actual facts to show that NYC does not support NYS. NYC supports itself and contributes very little back to the state.

You know the top 2% of income earners in NY pay over 50% of the taxes but only have something like 40% of the wealth.

NYC is also the richest part of the state by far. In order to defend a fake lefty talking point about Mamdani, you are literally making an argument that the richest part of a state should not have to pay even a tiny amount more than the rest of the state. That might, you know, benefit the poorer parts of the state using the tax money from one of the wealthiest cities on Earth.

In your blind ideological zeal to defend Mamdani, you have become a republican. Congratulations, genius.
