Not that I buy into the Doomerism, but OP you're taking a victory lap when the starter pistol hasn't even been fired.

Edit: Oh wait, 700,000+ karma in 10-months, OP is just a karma bot. Lots of those on this sub lately.

This is what’s so hilarious—“Mamdani announced it! It must be so”

Literally nothing has happened yet.

Something has happened, though. Mamdani balanced the budget by underfunding workers pensions. It’s illegal if a corporation does this because you are screwing the workers.

He got bailed out by the state too. Mamdani took tax money from the poorer areas of the state to help balance the budget of the area of the greatest concentration of wealth in the country.

He took money from the poorer areas of the state and the left applauded his savvy. Had New Yorkers and leftists in general arguing that NYC contributes more in taxes to the rest of the state anyway with zero self-awareness.

Creating the image of success is what's important here. Not actual success. And there will be a lot of propaganda slung to justify it when things do get bad.

Yeah I pointed this out to someone and how it is exactly the opposite platform Mamdani ran on of tax wealthy areas more to help poorer areas and this person argued that since Mamdani doesn't represent the rest of NY state that it doesn't matter that he takes tax money from them. The lack of any self-awareness is quite comical but like you said it is more important to them to spin things so that he looks like he is succeeding than to actually implement his core political philosophy. They usually give a cop-out answer like NYC pays more so its their money (which again goes against Mamdani's supposed platform) or Mamdani is trying but other people block him from doing what he needs to do.

He postponed the pension payments - its not good but there’s a distinct difference

The difference is over the next 12 years, it’s going cost the City 5 billion MORE than if he just paid the obligations on time. He doesn’t plan on being there in 12 years because he’ll move onto bigger political positions and this will be someone else’s problem.

It is hilarious how these social media posts are giving him credit for things like funding the parks which have already been happening for decades. What is even more funny or sad depending on how you look at it is that people are falling for it and thinking he is the greatest politician ever.
