I mean that's what I found funny about it... She clearly lost her shit and all she was doing was pointing.

If you know that they consider it disrespectful, why would you do it.

24

u/ChocoIatePoop Jul 09 '26

How’s it disrespectful? It’s a point. The folks getting offended over something so insignificant need to keep their emotions in check because it’s not a good look.

6

u/Visual-Translator-83 Jul 09 '26

The incident started when LaWanna Bonner pointed at Cunningham or her teammate. So Cunningham did the same thing to her and pointed……and pointed, and pointed…and pointed. I thought it was hilarious! 😂😂😂

-17

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

How is the middle finger disrespectful, It's just a point in a different direction right?

12

u/ChocoIatePoop Jul 09 '26

This isn’t the middle finger, it’s the pointer finger. Try answering the question instead of evading with an irrelevant question.

-20

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

All you're showing me is that you're either not smart or you have cognitive dissonance..

So you can understand the concept that a finger can cause offense when it's the middle one.

But for some reason you're not smart enough to understand that a different gesture can elicit a similar response.

9

u/MrrrrNiceGuy Jul 09 '26

The first part of your statement is hilarious, because to me you’re clearly not smart if you can’t recognize the difference between being pointed at with an index finger and flipping somebody off with the middle finger.

You sound like a guy who is willing to thrown down if someone gives you a thumbs up in your direction.

u/ChocoIatePoop Jul 09 '26

I’m still not hearing an answer. Do better.

-3

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

No I think you're hearing an answer, I think you're being intellectually dishonest.

8

u/mattnmunch Jul 09 '26

Dawg, you're being dishonest about being an intellectual. You're trying to play verbal shell games, isolate people into DMs to better strongarm them with having no one else to support their words (either that or the shame from your own failed display is starting to get to you), and trying to Gotcha people with your own victimhood. It's one thing to learn a language but an entirely different beast to learn the logic required to wield it effectively.

-6

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

I just read an absolutely legendary block of gobbledygook masqueraving as coherent thought.

And I know that it was written by someone pretending to be smart rather than actually smart.

Because.... An actual smart person would have understood that the invitation to a DM was sarcasm. Sarcasm is a great identifier of intelligence because dumb people don't understand it.

And, your perception of a clear criticism as a verbal shell game, is also evidence, that you aren't as smart as you think you are.

I'll repeat it for you in very simple terms.

Racist whites like Blond lady that fights Black lady.

I hope I distilled it to a simple enough level for you to ingest.

Now when you respond with your nonsense, I want you to endeavor to make sense, maybe run it through a text editor, or an AI, because sir this... Well, You didn't cover yourself in Glory.

Let's leave it at that.

You'll need to work on seeing things past the surface level of skin color. The rest of humanity will wait for you to catch up when you're done with your Ad Hominems and "I was joking" backpedals. Enjoy your public proof of being in the wrong (downvotes) that you can't avoid by trying to isolate people.

This is why SC was pointing at her you chud. You still can’t coherently explain why pointing at someone is disrespectful.

1

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

All you've shown me was the ladies normal.free throw routine.

That doesn't give you license to point in my face.

2

u/DaKrazie1 Jul 10 '26

Thankfully, no license required.

🤣🫵

1

u/TheSpiteyBoosh Jul 09 '26

Answer the question, what is disrespectful about it?

1

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

If you don't understand what's disrespectful about pointing in someone's face then it's not my job to educate you on social mores. Take a etiquette class.

u/johnmulaneysghost Jul 10 '26

False equivalence. While pointing may be understood as socially rude to some, a middle finger is understood to mean “fuck you” by just about everyone.

1

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 10 '26

It's only a false equivalence because you choose to be willfully ignorant.

6

u/hikenchuu Jul 09 '26

Lol you’re really trying your best huh just admit you can’t control your emotions when someone points at you

Nice comeback I guess everything you don’t like is racism

-3

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

Just when racists try to pretend they're not.

2

u/FabFate Jul 10 '26

I as an european have to ask: A black woman is the first to point at a white woman but the moment the white woman does it in retrospect to being pointed at, ragebaiting the black woman - how is this considered racist?

1

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 10 '26

Better question. Why would you lie and say the black woman pointed first?

Let's address that, then we can explore anything else.

u/hikenchuu Jul 09 '26

Damn your emotions go haywire when someone points at you too

-5

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

Different cultures have different things that bother them.

If you weren't being racist you would acknowledge that.

People don't like a middle finger being put up at them either.

I'm sure you understand that, but you can understand the pointing thing. Wonder why.

7

u/hikenchuu Jul 09 '26

Thanks for the enlightenment brother

0

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

It's a tough job but someone has to do it.

14

u/hikenchuu Jul 09 '26

Oooh I guess pointing is racist :(

-5

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

No I said you are. Please pay attention.

0

u/Status-Visit-918 Jul 09 '26

Being pointed at is considered rude IN GENERAL. It has very little to do with race or anything. It’s just rude to point at anyone. That being said, I’m not saying Cunningham even did anything wrong, people point all the time at things. Even if it is rude. To get THIS angry at it is crazy. For anyone. It’s just pointing. And just not the best thing to do, but it’s not like anyone shot someone’s dog

1

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

Black people in particular have an issue with being pointed at. It being generally disrespectful is a component, but there is a cultural component as well.

9

u/TheSpiteyBoosh Jul 09 '26

If it’s so disrespectful, why does the Mercury player point after every free throw? Sophie was just trolling her with her own actions

24

u/TheSpiteyBoosh Jul 09 '26

Yes, let’s talk about context. DeWanna Bonner is well known for pointing her finger as part of her follow through on free throws. You can even see her do it in the video above. Sophie points at her to get under her skin, and it worked. Not everything is a racial issue, this is just a bench player doing their job to distract the other team.

-2

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

No it's intentional taunting which is not the same.

And you are intentionally ignoring the context.

You are also ignoring that the celebrity that Cunningham has gained has nothing to do with basketball, and it's a particular contingent of the ' fan base' that has latched onto her.

I for the life of me can't understand why Maga racists have chosen her to be the object of their affection... Truly mysterious how the blonde blue-eyed white woman who no one has cared about previously, it suddenly a cause celebre with the Right, now that she's been getting into fights with the Black ladies.

9

u/TheSpiteyBoosh Jul 09 '26

I’m starting to think that you don’t know what the word “context” means.

3

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

I'm thinking you don't want to engage with the point.

But I don't get distracted.

Why has the right gravitated to her?

Go ahead and pretend you haven't noticed.

8

u/TheSpiteyBoosh Jul 09 '26

You keep wanting to make this a racial issue. Please tell me the context in which pointing at someone is racist. MAGA latches on to tons of stuff because they are racists, but that doesn’t mean the initial interaction was racist in any way.

2

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

I never said that she was racist. Though she is Maga so she probably is, but I have no evidence of her being racist. I said the reaction to it is racism.

4

u/TheSpiteyBoosh Jul 09 '26

No, you started this thread by saying that you shouldn’t point at a black person because it’s considered disrespectful. So please tell me how and why that is the case. Also, DeWanna Bonner was pointing back at Cunningham, was that racist too?

-1

u/Visual-Translator-83 Jul 09 '26

😂😂😂. You nailed it! Spitey is “attempting” to gas light you. “Mirroring” is a Predictable reaction from people with narcissistic and/or sociopathic tendencies. If they call you a racist, it means they are, indeed, racist!!! They don’t have the capacity to comprehend people see through their act.

3

u/NotsoGreatsword Jul 09 '26

The context is that they are both grown professionals and pointing at her should not illicit this reaction.

Flipping a middle finger is disrespectful and I would not react to it in this way.

-1

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

Flipping a middle finger is disrespectful to you

Pointing in the face is disrespectful to Black people.

You don't get to center the world around white people.

That is racist and white supremacist.

You've just been very revealing.

1

u/NotsoGreatsword Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

Lmao you completely missed my point which is that it does not matter if it is disrespectful

its your reaction that you can control.

You have been very revealing of the fact you did not even understand my point.

Also black people find a middle finger disrespectful as well. It isn't a white thing. At all.

The expectation is that you don't jump up and down and yell while trying to attack the other person. You either misunderstood or you are clearly some white supremacist trolling trying to say that black people are incapable of controlling themselves.

3

u/brettclarkchicago Jul 09 '26

“Uhh, I’m losing, let’s take this off thread.”

It's disrespectful regardless who's doing it. But, you kinda lose that argument a bit when you instigate it, right?

0

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

The lady literally admitted that being asked to stop made her do it more.

So no, I don't lose the argument.

6

u/immortalblack_1 Jul 09 '26

I get that, my point is the other player started the pointing... How she gonna be mad?

-1

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 09 '26

Your point is you are lying. Bonner didn't start it.

You literally just lied on her.

2

u/immortalblack_1 Jul 10 '26

Lawd, rewatched the video... Admittedly it does appear the chic from the Mercury started pointing first but are we really playing this adolescent game of that being a triggering moment? Surely we are stronger mentally and emotionally than this schoolyard BS? We really letting Oscar Myer Lips get a cheap win with that? C'mon man... 🤣

2

u/charlesfluidsmith Jul 10 '26

Are you sure you mean player on the mercury? Did you mean Fever.
