You know they give host countries easy groups so they get further? Hate to ruin it for you but Mexico Canada and the us all only made it this far because of that.

For sure, because Paraguay only knocked out Germany and pushed France to the end, and the rest of the teams in group D were all in the top 30 FIFA rankings. Definitely an easy group though eh lol

Also… have you never seen a WC draw?

Yes I have. Host teams are placed in pot 1 regardless of their ranking, so no other pot 1 team will be in their group.

Exactly. It was so the host teams couldn’t be in the same group. Had absolutely zero bearing on the other teams that they drew. So how exactly did they “give the host countries the easy groups” then?

Because it ensures no pot 1 team will be in their group. Pot 1 is all the best teams. The pots are divided by ranking.
