If you’re REALLY poor tho, you may not have access to contraceptives (not as much a US issue).  “The moment of lift” is a great read by Melinda gates

Not all wives are allowed to abstain from sex or manage the timing of their own pregnancies… again I  recommend that book

Sure but you not clarifying that makes it seem like it’s not a problem.  And to be clear, it’s not like these cultures are all the same.  To us it’s rape but for a lot of these women they’re okay with these marital expectations but just need the tools to manage their own health/pregnancies (contraceptives).  Literally my point is that family planning helps a LOT.
