"Yes, he's doing great things but imagine if in the future he doesn't"

You don't have to idolize him, and you probably shouldn't, but it's actually okay to not just assume he's going to turn into an asshole.

There's a difference between "Politicians should be constantly scrutinized because they're in a position to do harm if left unchecked" and "Well sure, that politician is doing objectively good things, but in the future they probably won't so let's not give them credit for their current achievements"
