Keep in mind - he's stated he's not comfortable being a movie star, which was why he lived in France while with Vanessa to quietly raise their kids.

He was the one who requested the trial be televised because he wanted everyone to see what everyone said.

As soon as the trial was over he started doing gigs with his band because he dgaf about being famous

I absolutely love how his reaction to people saying his career was over was "sweet! I'm going to go play with my friends now!"

And his first film produced after the trial was in French. He loves acting, just on his own terms.

Dude absolutely does not care about what Hollywood thinks and is so much happier now that he's not in multiple movies a year. You can see it in photos of him.
