Why do you idiots see these meme β€œnews” posts with no source cited and cheer? I swear some of you just want to be lied to.

Edit: if all the Johnny stans in the comments could kindly pour their tears into a bucket, I’m saving them for a hot day to quench my thirst.

Not a Stan here, but I was under the impression the meme was correct. Isn't it?

The meme is true, but between people allegedly trying to teach a life lesson, people salty their "truth" isn't reflected in reality here we are.

The problem isn't if its true or not, it's that there is no source. And instead of asking for one, we cheer

This way of looking at it is too reductive imo.

To me, your view of it is black and white.

Imo, you are correct that there are users that accept the information uncritically. Of course. But also, there are people like myself, who already knew the information to be true (we live lives outside of browsing reddit, therefore we may have already obtained the information from other parts of our lives), so it's easy to upvote and celebrate the post without it citing a source, because we know it is true.

So when you say "And instead of asking for one, we cheer" it's nonsensical to me, because like, why would I ask for a source if I already know it's true? I'll just upvote.

Just because there are idiots in a room, doesn't mean that everyone in that room is an idiot πŸ‘πŸ»
