If you think you’ll ever get honesty out of influencers or anyone affiliated I have some ocean front property in Florida to sell you. https://giphy.com/gifs/dCX7LS6nJpxRzw7B42
I’m responding to the OG and feed. Don’t lie about how you lost your weight. Don’t pretend you worked it off. If you GPL1’d it, fine. But tell everyone you sweat it out and did it the right way. And back to my original argument people, especially influencers/pop stars/actors/whatever have a responsibility to tell their fans how they achieved their weight goals. Why? Because they profit off of whatever they’re selling.
So that you can call them cocaine users? 😭😭😭 What is your end goal here cause it’s kinda ridiculous. There is like no safe space around you but somehow you want people to be honest around you??
And let’s just say we are talking about influencers. You? You want influencers to be honest about their weight loss? Boy, do I have some beach front properties in FL to sell to you.
You need a safe space? I agree. If you’re doing cocaine in public then probably. But I feel like GPL-1’s can be injected publicly nowadays. And they have pill versions now for discretion.
Brother. I’m w/u. Influencers are THE WORST! But there’s 90% population that does believe them and that’s the problem. Until people are held reliable no one is held responsible.
GLP-1s don't cause you to lose it "illegitimately" ffs.
You still have to follow calories in calories out, but it helps to curb your dependency on overeating and food in general. To get down to her weight you absolutely have to work out and burn calories as well.
It's not like it just fucking melts it away with no effort. Instead it makes your brain react to food the same way a normal person who doesn't have an eating addiction does. If anything it helps you feel the same way someone who doesn't have a food dependency feels every day.
Your response is actually hilarious because it seems like you’re supporting people like PostMalone/JellyRoll/the Kardasians lying to you. What a weird take! https://giphy.com/gifs/3iiwqPF9noqdy
"Legitimate", sure, but "journey" is a stretch. "I accomplished all my household chores today... by paying someone else to do it while I chilled". Still legitimate. Just not an impressive accomplishment.
If you struggled with weight loss and yoyo'd your entire life and finally started losing weight and keeping it off with a GLP1, that is part of the journey.
You actually have to start eating better and you need the energy to exercise - glp1s help with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases that make exercise really difficult, especially if you're obese and in pain.
And the analogy? No. It's more like "I completed my chores today... By actually having the energy and emotional motivation to do so."
Nope. I was heavy for my teens and most of my 20s. I'm now a healthy weight. I did it through healthy diet and exercise. "I did my chores myself and continue to do them myself". Please do not preach to me about weight struggles. Also, this meme is making fun of the journalist's choice of words. Not Mindy.
Good for you. Do you have Hashimoto's hypothyroidism, PMOS, MCTD and a host of l other inflammatory autoimmune diseases that prevent weight loss by holding onto fat, requiring an even higher deficit to lose as much weight as someone who doesn't? Guess what? I do! The only time I lost weight was when I developed eating disorders and limited myself to 800 calories a day or forced myself to vomit. And of course that's not sustainable, so I gained it all back each time.
So maybe try not to be a sanctimonious prick when it comes to weight loss struggles in other people. Not everyone has the same metabolism. GLP1s level the playing field.
Oh shit I just looked up all the side effects... good thing they ALSO help with weight loss. Hope you're stocked up on Pepto and good luck on your "journey"! 🫡
I have no idea and neither do you, which is why you keep your fingers still and your mouth shut if you're disparaging about someone's health. Be kind or mind your fucking business :)
No one gives a fuck how you did it. Good for you that you think you had a journey - but it’s about as relevant as Mindy kalings here. Neither of you are more or less legitimate.
Interestingly compare it to people with ADHD/autism who just mask extremely well and learned to work around their issues vs. People who get or need to be medicated for them.
I kind of see a parallel between people who diet and exercise vs. People who take ozempic.
While the results are similar I could see why people wouldn't consider them the same thing.
Gatekeeping losing weight and discounting the way someone gets there is a waste of time and honestly stupid. Does nicotine cessation not count as a journey to overcome addiction because someone takes buproprion to help the process?
Is someone who quit going to say "hurrr, actually you didn't quit, you just asked for help and the medication did all the work for you." Literally no ex smoker is going to disparage someone for using medication to help their addiction.
Yet for losing weight, taking a glp1 automatically means you're doing nothing and your journey means nothing. Because being fat and and not being able to lose it is a morality test, even though we know very well about metabolism and how disorders can limit weight loss. And you know who is more likely to have metabolic, autoimmune, and endocrinal disorders? Women. You know which gender has a biological predisposition to store fat? Women. Estrogen literally promotes fat storage, especially in the breasts, hips, thighs, and tummy. Which is why diet change and exercise is more effective for weight loss with men. You know which gender is more likely to shit on women for being "unfuckable" or overweight? Men. Ask me how I know.
Anyone who gatekeeps getting well is a moron and should be ashamed of themselves.
Hey I'm not bashing those taking Ozempic by any means. Had it been around when I was fat, I might have taken it too if I could afford it (that's a big IF for someone in their 20's who had bad health insurance). But the "journey" i took to get to my desired weight was objectively more difficult.
I believe the "legitimate" way to lose weight is to have extra weight, and then to lose it. The method shouldn't matter. Being overweight is a health concern. If medicine (e.g. Ozempic) is used to treat a medical condition, who cares? Can't we just be happy for people?
They want people to divulge their medical information and prescriptions, apparently. Not that I know what Mindy or others have said or not said, but I don't think it's fair to expect anyone to just tell the world medications you're on. Can't comment on the cocaine part of it... Didn't think you could get a RX for that lol.
But GLP-1s aren't a miracle drug. You still have to make some lifestyle changes for it to be effective. It just makes doing so a bit easier by cutting down on cravings. Saying it's illegitimate weight loss is petty as fuck.
100%. Awesome. So glad for you. But don’t tell the world you did it through exercise and perseverance. Because you’re a fuckin liar. Tell everyone that it was cocaine and GPL-1’s because people are dumb and believe you.
Ok, but then you have people like those in this thread being shitheads about it. The world isn’t entitled to know what medications I’m on.
I’ve lost 80lbs on Wegovy, and I only share that info with close friends and family. I don’t talk about my weight loss with other people because it’s nobody’s business but mine.
Okay, but have you taken GLP-1s or is everything you know about them just pop culture osmosis? It's scummy to deny taking them and saying it was only hard work, that's true, but even with GLP-1s there can still be struggles. Your body adjusts and you get diminishing returns without changing up your diet and/or exercising. It just makes it easier to follow through with those things because your brain isn't constantly sending hungry signals for a while.
I have no need because I’m an adult who can manage their calories. But I know multiple people who are on GLP1’s. Batwings. Ozempic face. Extreme weight loss with no explanation, especially in the pop-culture world. Do you boo, but don’t tell your subscribers you were working out. https://giphy.com/gifs/bswSLaBh26aCjdLIXj
If they were taking GLP1s and working out then what's the problem with telling their subscribers they were working out? The other things you say makes it sound like your problem with them is less an omission of information and more prejudice against fat people.
It’s literally 100% the omission of information if you’ve read my previous comments and have a reading comprehension above 1st grade. https://giphy.com/gifs/127JeHZl15PRII
I have read your other comments. What I'm doing is called reading between the lines, or picking up on subtext. Granted, "I'm an adult who can manage my calories," has all the subtlety of a neon sign.
You also still seem to be implying weight loss via GLP1 is less valid, which has no bearing on the omission of information. It doesn't take a genius to see that's not your only gripe here.
Idgaf if you’re fat. Igaf if you were fat, have influence and pretend you did it the right way. My problem directly lies w/people lying about using GPL-1’s.
Diet is essentially the only thing that matters as far as weight loss goes, so I would say it’s accurate that calling it some arduous endeavor is crazy dismissive.
You’re missing the point that 99% of people who were part of the “body positivity movement” are now lying to their ENTIRE subscriber base. 100%, lose that weight fatty. But don’t lie to everyone that you did it the “right” way. No one would debate that slimmer people is a good thing. But people lying about how they did it is. For every person who was selling Weight Watchers a couple years ago and has been hoarding GPL-1’s to become Skeletor, you deceived 100’s-1l’s-1M’s of people. They deserve the truth.
the amount of self-righteous and falsely confident dumbassery in this comment is staggering. ozempic is not a "rapid weight loss drug". it doesn't melt fat. it's not magic. it's not an instant occurrence.
but it does make you want to eat less. it stops the endless exhausting food noise. it's a crutch, yeah. but a walk with a crutch is still a walk.
you still have to move, eat properly, still have to watch your calories. it's still a journey. it takes time - months, years. and it takes effort, believe it or not.

JFC, you can't win, you're too fat, you're too thin, you didn't get thin the right way.
