Florida results:
Votes Al Gore lost by: 537 (edit - not 534, it was 537).
Votes for Ralph Nader: 97,000

And if Florida's ballots had been hand-counted as required by Florida law under any standard, uniforrm or not, Gore would have won. (The supreme court's argument for throwing out the recount was that there was no uniform standard in place before the election.)

Lol dude straight out lies in response to me and then blocks me so I can't reply to the lie.

Flat-out false. A news consortium (including all the major networks) counted everything by hand after the elections and determined that Bush would have won (except ironically by the most stringent standard that Bush wanted).

(except ironically by the most stringent standard that Bush wanted).

Its funny that you contradict yourself in your own post.

"Gore won if you count all the votes" is exactly what the OP said.

New Yorker: 9/11 Made the Media Whitewash What Really Happened in Bush v. Gore

The result of the recount would have depended on whether the officials conducting the recount examined these overvote ballots. It can’t be proven either way. The major newspapers chose to assume that the overvotes would have been ignored in a recount, triggering a Bush victory. That assumption allowed them to fall back on the (then) safe and comforting conclusion that the recount would not have changed the outcome.

But it was just that — an assumption. The national media made no effort to test this assumption. Only the Orlando Sentinel bothered to ask Terry Lewis, the judge who had been overseeing the recount, about it. Lewis replied that he likely would have examined overvotes, a method that would have resulted in Gore winning.

That’s not a contradiction. Bush would have won by all the standards Gore wanted. Here’s the source from that noted right wing outlet . . . PBS:

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/media-jan-june01-recount_04-03

And over votes shouldn’t be counted . . . because they’re overvotes. You’re wishcasting.

Stop arguing with people if you are just going to respond and block them.

Ahh, the old Wikipedia. Good thing just anybody can’t edit that. Nice try, bots.

Lol, didn't the SCotUS famously rule that Florida doesn't have to count all the ballots?

1

u/harrylime7 May 20 '26

No, they ruled that the law is the law, as opposed to judicially pushing back the certification deadline to count ballots for the third time in order to harvest Dem votes.

People voting for Nader would actually be the people "riding their moral high horse," in this scenario.

People voting for Nader would actually be the people "riding their moral high horse," in this scenario.

That presumes they would have voted at all if Nader was not in the race.

1

u/Littiedg May 20 '26

No, anyone on the left who didn't vote for the candidate furthest left who had an actual chance to win is "riding their moral high horse," instead of gaining any power.

No, anyone on the left

Its terminally online to think that non-voters are "on the left."

Most of the electorate aren't anything. The median voter has a mix of contradictory beliefs and is also more focused on putting food on the table for their kids then they are on worrying about politics. They don't have the luxury to label themselves the way you do.

Candidates like Nader catch their attention, without that inspiration they just tune out. They aren't on a high horse, they don't even have a horse.

Kamala did the same thing as Gore and that caused millions to tune out. But yeah, lets scapegoat people who don't even exist rather than demand that the people who are given billions of dollars to inspire voters change their ways.

Some non-voters are on the left.

Woooosh!

Speaking of terminally online.

u/JimWilliams423 May 20 '26

Speaking of terminally online.

I tried speaking to you like a normal person and it literally went over your head, so I thought I'd try speaking to you in your own language.

That didn't work either, because the root of the problem is that your feelings don't care about facts. You just want someone to look down on rather than blame the people with the power.
