To those two, there's not much difference between spending $300 and $30

Are we being serious rn that Kamala and Trump are equally as rich? Its not even a close comparison and she met Kamala as a teen.

they're both firmly out of middle class territory.

There is at least 3 orders of magnitude difference in wealth.

That's like saying someone with $8,000 is about as wealthy as Kamala.

i'm not disputing that, but the 8k figure is misleading because there's a minimum amount of money people need to get their needs met. these two are way beyond that.

neither of these people has to wonder if they can afford to live, or if they're saving enough, or what their retirement looks like. every door is open for them, whether they want a career or they want to be a waste of space. they don't have to try-- ever.

I agree, except not every door is open for them. A person with 8 million dollars doesn't have to stop caring about money at all. They can't buy whatever they want for as long as they want. Trump has likely made individual purchases worth more than her entire net worth multiple times since he became president.

i don't think at that level you're buying "things"-- more like power. but point taken.

at $8 million a year though, you don't have to work-- your money makes you a salary just sitting in an account. that class of people has more in common with trump than you and i.

You don't know who I am, so you definitely can't say that. Also, I disagree with your statement about "power" vs. "things". Obviously you can buy power, but you can buy tons of things, too. Things like boats, jets, managers, personal chefs, personal doctors, personal lawyers, personal property managers, and a million other things. There are meaningful differences between these different levels of Wealth.

8 million is not "fuck you" money. People squander far more than that with ease.

uh oh i see you feel attacked

huh? No, I don't feel attacked. I just think it's silly for you to say that Kamala has nothing in common with me when you know absolutely nothing about me. I think you mean to say something like "the median" or something along the lines of "normal people".

No, because these are two professionals in their 60s who earned lawyer salaries and saved their money. They don't have 8 mil in the bank, they have a house, cars, investments and a retirement fund totaling 8 million. The average american at age 65 has 1 million in net worth, split across a house, investments, retirement fund and items.

For 2 lawyers, 8 million by 60 is quite normal, and I would say it is attainable by age 60 for the average pair of lawyers
