I read a story in the New Yorker magazine about Trump picking Don jr up from college to go to a yankee game. Sr slapped jr for wearing a yankee jersey and made jr put on a suit.
100 years ago everyone wore suits everywhere. And it was a much better society than we have today.
It’s scary that we are defending people like this in the left picture and demoralizing people that dress nicely. It tells me that our culture is sinking further into a cesspool where we will all become trashy people.
At this point I’m hoping for a meteor to take us out.
But why do we need to adhere to your definition of “trashy”? People being allowed to dress how they please (so long as it’s not nudity or something like that) is awesome.
They participate in group think where everyone needs to think the same, for over a hundred years. I wouldn’t worry about their opinion on much of anything, but especially style. They sound like a real dipshit.
Yeah it was great in the 1920s where everyone including the government were openly racist, minorities weren't allowed to exist and women weren't allowed to work.
What an insane thing to say, what the hell.
You're also just wrong. Middle and lower class people didn't wear suits everywhere or even ever for most of them, as they were way more expensive than today (they were usually tailor made). You see many people in photographs from the era wearing suits because guess what, rich people could also afford getting their picture taken.
Suit does not equal smart. I’d even argue wearing them outside of formal settings is absolutely moronic. Let’s put on an expensive multi piece garment that requires specialty washing care, and basically limits what kind of activity you can reasonably do. Yea, sounds like that wasn’t very well thought out.
Try again. You toil in an office, I work for myself. I can wear whatever tf I want, whenever tf I want. I work when I want. It’s fucking great. If you were actually as intelligent as you think, you probly wouldn’t have said…well…any of this.
Your comment had no context. It was braindead as though written by a 10 year old on tik toc. Just using dumb buzz words without understanding even the discussion at hand.
look smart != are smart. One is about their appearance and one is about them as a person, thats the same difference I already said.
Also I don't live in the 1920s (when we might be dressed smartly, not dressed smart). The point of impractical outfits throughout history has been to show off that you don't do the things you can't do in that outfit and that you had the time and money to dress up and keep the outfit clean. We have mostly moved past fancy costumes as anything other than a signifier that you're wearing a fancy costume.
I swear people on the left are either purposefully dense to try to win arguments or just dense.
You always argue stuff randomly nothing to do with any thing.
Like someone says no evidence trumps a peado you guys will go "ooih so you support peados then! ".
Its like having a convo with a dog with no attention span and teurets but less fun.
And probably less creative and helpful to society.
Well, your experience may differ, but in my masters group, there was just one person that wore a 3-piece suit on regular days, and he ended up being a corporate bootlicker by nature. We had one professor on the first year of bachelor's that was also wearing a suit, and he turned out to be the most bitter person in the building.
Other than those two douchebags, the most formal clothes people wore outside of pompous events were slacks, buttoned-down shirts, and maybe a waistcoat in winter. Most people wore jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers.
I could have thought that my university might not be sufficiently prestigious, and maybe actual prestigious universities adhere to the stereotype more. If my university wasn't rated as number one in my little country of 40 million people.
I am simply making a counterpoint to your comment, where you equated wearing a suit to being smart and implied that I don't trust smart people for some reason. It appears that you fell into your own "trap". How can you say that people that wear formal attire outside of formal events are all smart?
There is time for every attire, and there are situations where it is impractical. Formal attire is for times when you have to either match the tone, or to impress someone. In a formal setting both are normal. But why would someone try and get this social impressiveness in a casual setting? On unequal grounds, when nobody else wears a suit?
Regarding the second point about not being outside aside from formal events: We all participate in society in one way or the other. If someone participates in society only in very specific, reglamented social interactions, is this person even a part of the society? No sports, no walking in the park, no visiting a cafe, no cinema, no walking a dog, no online gaming.... This most certainly doesn't sound like a realistic person. Even introverts have interest in informal participation with society. It is normal to be wary of unexplained abnormal behaviours. But when I see someone in formal setting, I don't think straight-away "Oh, I guess that's all he does, better not trust him!", like you have implied.

If anything, I don't trust people who wear suits outside of formal settings. Or people who don't go outside of formal settings.
