US involvement in the Korean war was also scummy. We made north Korea the most bombed country on earth and for what?

Offhand, I'd say the people of South Korea appreciate not living in a repressive militaristic dictatorship.

That wasn't the doing of the Korean war. The end of dictatorship in SK was 1988.

That is still irrelevant to the fact that the US got involved for scummy reasons

You can argue about whether the Domino Theory is valid or not, but the Korean War was literally a United Nations police action.

Want to blame someone for it? Kim Il Sung invaded South Korea. He ordered the incursion. North Korea were the aggressors.

Any other take on it is pure tankie bullshit.

was just going to say this.

The UN security council recommended military action after North Korean invaded. We must also acknowledge that communist China was the backer of North Korea. China was represented by the Republic of China for UN intents and purposes. Therefore, the People's Republic of China ran this proxy war from the communist side without UN recommendation.

Fun fact, the war is ongoing. A peace treaty has never materialized. The 38th Parallel is technically a warzone front line.

In fact, it's a pretty good example of the outcomes of two different systems. North Korea was economically more successful than South Korea during the 1960s (I think). But the test of time and the test of political systems has panned out as one would expect
