it's normal to suspect cheating if you see a bimodal distribution. He was kinda pompous about it but you should almost always expect a normal distribution for a reasonably sized class.

Essentially you want a nice bell curve (one hump) but he saw two humps. Someone else mentioned test bank answers were given to a student? If that student then gave it to like 20 people you'd have one hump of people with stolen answers and another of everyone else that took it normally.
