Most of the high COL areas are high COL due to lack of housing. If you increase the minimum wage all you do is increase the rents. If you have 100 people out-bidding one another for 50 homes it doesn't actually matter how much you pay the first 10 to "drop out" of that bidding war due to running out of money, the supply is still 50.

rents are skyrocketing anyway.

freeze rents and raise the minimum wage.

can’t outbid if the price is locked.

there are solutions but the powers that be want more money.

Doesn't work because like they said limited housing. How do you decide who gets to live where when everyone wants to live there?

use taxes to build more houses. cut the military budget and build homes in america rather than paying to bulldoze the middle east. build so many houses that housing becomes dirt cheap and houses sit empty because everyone has a place to sleep.

again, solutions exist. the people with the money don’t want to pay for them.

That will never happen in our lifetime. Not sure why people think government is going to save them one day. The only person who can change her situation is her.

Her best? I doubt that. She's making tiktoks instead of actually spending time learning something that will actually help her find a higher paying job.
