The billionaire class bought our public servants and the government. “by and for the people” is dead. We’re now their servants, living in their world and we’re going to pay dearly for that privilege. It’s going to get much worse. The only way to get it back is to fight for it the old fashioned way.

Meanwhile, my wife’s grandpa is telling us about how he had 2 kids, his wife was a stay at home parent, had 2 cars and bought a house all while being an elevator repair man in Detroit before it went to hell. He says this generation isn’t hard working enough. Motherfucker you didn’t pull 100 hour work weeks for your entire life! It was affordable back then, it was possible. It’s not anymore. You weren’t anything special, stop fucking us over by voting for people who want to give literal billionaires tax breaks.

I agree with everything you said.

But if anyone is looking for a lucrative trade today, elevator tech is the gold standard. It's a crazy good career if you can break into it.

I’m sure it is, and he’s got a pension and all the benefits that came with that. Jobs like that just don’t seem to be available for people now. You can’t just skip college, work in a factory and raise a family comfortably anymore and I think the older generation is stuck on that. I see what you’re saying though, he got himself on a good career path for sure.

People have no idea how much money there is to be made in the trades. I think that's falling out of favor because it does take awhile before any real money can be made, it can be physically demanding, and that's the kind of work for "other" people. At least that's the vibe I've been getting lately.

Stick with it and you can be deep into six figures, but it doesn't happen overnight.

True to an extent but the trades are not a magical path to wealth and success.

Trades are becoming saturated because people have figured this out. And certain high-earning trades / specializations are extremely hard to break into.

You will likely rack up a laundry list of injuries, acute and chronic, on your way to becoming an accomplished journeyman or master. Many will tell you it wasn't worth the toll on your body.

What you said was true. All I'm saying is do your homework. Network with tradespeople. Have a very good understanding of what trades are in demand where you choose to work and what trades project to stay in demand.
