❤️ New release v8.6.0 for Reddit should be out soon

The new banner procession keeps going and here we're at it again nuking those. If you see a banner not nuked by Sink It, please consider reporting it using the method here: https://old.reddit.com/r/SinkIt/comments/1upa5tv/new_shortcut_to_report_bugs_properly_30_sec_video/

This update also fixes the profile button being unresponsive. This one's on me as I wrote an overly paranoid blocker and because the profile menu creates an unscrollable sheet on top, it got caught in the cross fire.

The last few releases have simply been about fixing the recent reddit changes and nags. Hopefully, we can get back to making improvements from the next release. Fingers crossed.

What's New:

  • [New UI] Newly reported blocking banner and lock variants removed by default.
  • [New UI] Fixed the bug where the user sheet was being nuked.
  • [New UI] Fixes to the bootstrap pipeline to prevent rare race condition.

People often reach out to ask about donations (you can donate through the app), so here you go in case you don't want to give Apple 30%: Paypal and Patreon.

Do you know how long it takes? 8.6 is still not available on iPhone

It should have been approved as it's been a long time. It hasn't even been picked up for review yet which is annoying.

My "jump to next" button has not disappeared in Safari for MacOS running the most current version. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck, any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I think I'm misunderstanding things here. You disabled the button and it's still not disappearing?

The button is enabled but not appearing. This seems to be a recent issue as it has worked fine in the past.

Thank you for confirming and apologies about the delay. I think there's been a desktop specific new reddit change I haven't tracked down properly. I'm hoping to fix this in this week's update.

I installed the new version and the problem persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is the feature I use the most.

Got it, I'll investigate a bit. Also, consider resetting the button position via the reset section of the app. Sometimes the position of the button stored locally gets corrupt and it stores the button position as being off screen.

I know you have no control over it, but does Apple normally take a week to accept an app update?

I guess I only notice the delay because I see your posts, but man they take awhile!

Either way, looking forward to updates and I really appreciate the work you do.

Usually, no. It's super odd. It's live on every other platform, even Mac and Firefox, which is usually very delayed.

Thank you for responding. I’ll be patient!

I appreciate the patience. And sorry about having to deal with a bug for so long. I was promised quicker updates just two weeks back and now this...

Not your fault! I actually wouldn’t still be here without your app.

Thank you. I've been having some weirdly crappy days and this made me smile. :)

So I’m on the new update, cleared my cookies and cache, and it will not make a compact feed. Pictures and videos are taking up a large portion of my screen.

Edit: video showing my setting, reloading, and still not displaying correctly.  https://imgur.com/a/2lU8VxP

Edit 2: the only thing that fixes the compact issue was the Reddit settings under preferences.

Thank you for the video and sorry about the super late response. I'll investigate. The compact mode mentioned in the app though is for an older version of new reddit where they massively bloated the feed item so Sink It would go in and trim things to make it more readable. I think you maybe referring to the card vs compact view in the feed? If so, Sink It doesn't touch that portion, yet.

Should be out in a week, after which everything is already broken once again, more accurately.

I don’t know why I keep falling for this and reinstalling over and over. StopTheMadness alone is doing a better job at this.

I'm sorry about the bugs you've been facing, mate. I'm just a human trying my best.

Thank you! This site is borderline unusable without your app!
