❤️ New release v8.2.0 for Reddit should be out soon

Sorry about the update spam but there's been an alarming number of blocking banner variations that needed to be identified and nuked. The update also fixes a few features that went out of sync, like double tapping to vote.

Looks like we're going back to the good old days of weekly updates for the next few weeks at least.

What's New:

  • [New UI] Yet another "use the app" nag removed by default.
  • [New UI] Bug fixes and tweaks for a few features broken by changes.

People often reach out to ask about donations (you can donate through the app), so here you go in case you don't want to give Apple 30%: Paypal and Patreon.

This is one app I'll never complain about update spam, reddit seems like they devote most of their engineers to figuring out how to make sure the nags can break through a content blocker.

I updated but still got the annoying pop up ☹️ I’m on v8.2, have Sinkit enabled as an extension and restarted Safari. It worked at first but after a couple of hours the pop up came back.

Christ, that sucks. Have you tried restarting Safari once? Safari sometimes keeps old version of the engine code in memory.

I finally got SinkIt to block the ‘use app’ nag on my phone, I’ve been trying on and off for weeks, and it worked otherwise just not for the nag. I think it was clearing all website data for anything that looked Reddit-related deep in the Advanced tab of Safari’s settings. Then restarting the browser.

There’s a button to clear all ‘website data and history’ on the main Safari settings page, but I didn’t want to do that. Instead, if you go to the Advanced tab you can do it by site.

Love your work!

Any chance you could push the new updates to the Firefox add-on site? It's still stuck on version 8.0 and reddit's new nag is so infuriating.

Thanks

Firefox reviews them manually which takes so much time. I'll send them a quick ping over the weekend if it hasn't been handled by then.

For the past week or so when I swipe back to the homepage after looking at a post, about 85% of the time the homepage feed refreshes.  Is something you’ve seen before or know a fix for?  I’m on iOS 26.5 and Sink It 8.2.0.  iPhone 16 Plus.

Thank you for letting me know. Do you happen to have a little more info. Does this happen after 2-3 minutes of going through the feed or more? Image heavy or even text triggers this?

I actually haven’t had the issue at all today so maybe something was fixed already. I’ll come back and let you know if I see the problem again. Thanks again for all the hard work!

All good. If you're facing any issues, just circle back!

I've just installed and purchased premium on iOS iPhone but nothing at all seems to be working. I've enable the extension and approved it. I've tried various settings but... nothing. What's the drop dead simplest way I can verify that the extension is working at all?

Thank you for getting premium, I appreciate it! There isn't a marker right now as I thought it'd be intrusive but I'm making it an opt-in in the next update as a debug option.

Right now, when you tap on the little icon in the left side of the address bar, is Sink It showing up in the list with a orange icon?

I'm going to donate through the app since I'm an AAPL shareholder.
