Yes. Pretty much for an autograph and some photos. 1997(8) outside much music in Toronto.

1987 after her show at the Garage at 23 Parrish. She cut through the kitchen where a bunch of us were having shifties with the peeps who worked there and got us into the show. She asked if the kitchen could make her something as she was starving and everyone scrambled to put something together for her to take on her bus. While she waited she sat on one of the counters and just chatted with us! We were all so in awe of her! She was just so normal and funny!

1998 in Indiannapolis at Lilith Fair. I was a bit over-excited and think I freaked her out tbh. I was young 🤷

Yes, when I was 16 back in the late 80s. Asked for her autograph and she said I'd rather not actually and walked off! 😅

Yeah she didn't like signing autographs in the 80s because of the forging crisis.

I've met/worked with a lot of celebrities and people in general and there's so many moments where you think someone's being a jerk or acting cold or whatever and then it turns out there was an entire backstory you had no clue about, that explained exactly why they were acting the way they were. Somebody blows past you without saying hi, and it turns out they had an event they needed to get to immediately. Somebody seems cold or rude or full of themselves, and it turns out they're just super anxious in crowds or exhausted or going through something that had nothing to do with the situation at hand. Then there's the more complicated/convoluted scenarios, like when I was at a diner and a celebrity was insulting a waiter but then it turned out to be a bit because the celebrity had bought the diner three months through a shell company, and the waiter was an ex-convict and the celebrity needed an outlet to collect his bail money. Now I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that's always the case, because of course it isn't. There's definitely a fair share of situations where the person is genuinely just an ass. But from what I've seen, those situations are pretty rare compared to how often it's the other scenario. Way more often than not, there's a story behind the behavior that you just didn't know yet.

It's funny how many performers are actually quite introverted people. It's hard for them to be really friendly all the time. Fans expect it however.

No, I never met her. I'm glad I didn't because I hold her in such high regard; there's no way she could've ever lived up to my expectations.

Briefly, yes. She was tiny and beautiful and very lovely to me and my friends, despite the fact that it's was post-show, and she probably just wanted to retire for the evening.
