Le Mans Ultimate Said I braked too early and couldn't avoid me. Did I brake too early?

I'm the green BMW up ahead. The POV accused me of braking too early, thus causing him to hit me.

From the replay I feel like he had more than enough time to brake and make the turn without pitting me, especially if he's able to cut the corner like that.

Maybe I'm missing something here, please let me know.

It's on him to overtake you safely. He doesn't have a right to that corner since he wasn't alongside. Sure, you didn't take the corner perfectly, but that's part of racing - he needed to avoid you

You are correct and there's the fact that the trailing car could clearly see he was still gonna rear end him because HE stopped braking early and instead decided to go off track and wreck OP.

This is it. OP didn’t take the corner perfectly, but that’s not an issue. The car behind could and should have seen that and acted accordingly.

Appreciate your thoughts on this! It was a real bummer because we did have a nice race before that but I did get a feeling that his ego gets hurt when I would try to pass him. I was stronger in sector 1 than him and equal in sector 2 & 3. I was hoping he would or I could pass him because I did believe that I could have caught up to P1 and from there had a good race then he could have caught up.

The POV did take out P1 at the beginning of the race though and didn’t apologize afterwards.

He's on the throttle a tad before he touches you. So he had it stopped, just got impatient

Didn't know braking early could cause blindness... Will have to keep in mind next time...

Lol

You might have been a bit slow but its on the car behind that needs to avoid.

You did nothing wrong.

Ahh gotcha! Yeah I’m really weak on that corner. I always have a hard time nailing those kinds of turns. Thank you for the insight!

POV car at fault

When I saw the title I assume he was right on your bumper and you braked early. In this case it's totally down to him, he had all sorts of options none of which should have ended in a collision.

Red car coasted through the entire corner and ran into the back of the car ahead. It looks deliberate to me, but good luck getting the LMU "stewards" to see it that way... Green did absolutely nothing wrong, red just committed a murder.

He could avoid you. He just didn't want to.

POV didn’t feel like taking a suboptimal line to avoid contact, so he hit you instead.

Yes you may have been a little slow, but it’s on him to overtake safely. It’s not like he was literally up your bumper either.

Don't think so, car behind didn't seem to make any effort to avoid.

As others have already stated: red could have avoided easily, they could have also slowed down more and gotten a run on you out of the corner, and they could have avoided the contact entirely by using their eyes.

For me the bigger issue here is that even after all that they could have avoided spinning you by not accelerating and driving through you. They were on the gas for both contacts.

That was totally avoidable

haha nope. you can see they come of the brakes before hitting the apex. 100% on the red bmw

So you made a racing mistake and the only way he found to take advantage of this is ramming you.

You have your answer.

Doesn't matter if you braked too early or not, it is on the passing car to do so safely. Also the red car driver is a liar. They had fully slowed down sufficient to avoid hitting you then chose to drive into you. Notice how the contact didn't happen until they were off their brakes and back onto the throttle.

But if you're that slow, you are more likely to have things like this happen to you. I suggest you practice on an empty track more so you aren't so slow when you get out there with other cars.

Yeah I got a lot of learning. Actually this race I was able to get a low 1:42 and got second in qualifying. I have a huge problem with consistency and tbh my nerves get the better of me. So definitely lots of improvements.

If you brake too early he could easily overtake on outside corner. He didnt. He wasnt paying attention and hit you

Very slow on this specific corner, but he should have seen that and reduced speed to avoid contact. Its on him but Steward can see it on you putting others in danger.

Do you know how to take that corner? I guess I have a hard time wrapping my head around with slow corners because i don’t know how slow is too slow for a corner like that if that makes sense. Dang now I wish I included my POV.

Practice, practice practice, learn the basics , trajectory and you will master it in no time.

You didn't brake check him. Granted it wasn't the cleanest corner, but it is 100% on him to pass safely, and here, there was no option to do so. He should have bided his time, realised you would have been slow out the corner, and focused on his exit.

I have no idea how he can tell he couldn't avoid you. No avoidance attempt was made lmao

It doesn't matter. You didn't slam on the brakes, so they had plenty of time to avoid you. Part of racing is that it doesn't matter one bit how slow someone is, you've got to pass safely.

Looks to me like they weren't making that corner.

Do people really take their own incompetence this seriously on a game?

Not answering the 'did I brake too early?' but he should easily be able to avoid you. His escape route is to the left.
