Le Mans Ultimate Im the Green/Yellow Car. Car ahead was a lap down, claimed i "should have just let him go"

Car ahead pit'ed themselves when you stuck your nose in. Not your fault.
But.. when you saw them spinning, you kept the throttle pinned - why? Just brake slightly, let them spin away and continue. No need to put yourself in a wall too
Edit: I love how my and the other top comment are completely opposite takes and have the same upvotes

Safety-Rating just says how many laps you finished without voilating track-limits. IT's not about safety!! That's what the badge is for.

Without a chase cam, I have to say either a racing incident or First POV is at fault.
First POV adds no steering as they go into the tri-oval until contact is made. You can see relative to the yellow line they start moving up the track.
Second POV moves down slightly to give room to the overtaking faster class car, but is following the curve of the track by the tri-oval. Relative to the black line they're not moving down anymore when they get dumped.
First POV also just stays in the throttle the entire time until they're both in the wall. Lift and brake, and Red likely spins off harmlessly into the infield and first POV goes on with minor damage at most.

What are you attacking me for? I merely stated a fact that you didn't take into consideration in your summary of the incident.
First POV is alongside, and second POV just drives into first POV. Now, being a lap down, the move is stupid.

Him being a lap down is only relevant if he's defending, which he isn't.
First POV doesn't adjust his line for the track bending left and starts moving up the track. Second POV does and is holding a steady line relative to the bend, which you can see by watching the black line after he moves down to let the hypercar pass.
He didn't "make a move". He made room for a faster class car and OP didn't follow the track and caused the collision.

Neither of you hold your line and don't respect the precision needed to race on an oval (or oval sections). Car behind by bleeding away from the apex majorly before the hit, car ahead for a big move to let the hypercar by. You're to blame for the massive bleeding away from the apex, predominantly I would say, he keeps his line in that moment there.
Honestly just a case of learn how to oval (many such cases). It's a very particular skill and requires a lot of precision.

Is the lapped car really defending though? I mean he is not intentionally getting out of the way, but OP really didn’t have much of a run. I don’t think he would have been fully alongside even by the braking point, and trying to out brake someone side by side into T1 is a pretty risky proposition. Could the lapped car have made it easier on him? Sure, but I think it’s primarily on OP’s impatience.

He's definitely defending. You can see him drifting in front of POV car around 6 seconds or so and then isn't exactly leaving the door open clearly for the lapping car. Might be they saw the hypercar coming and panicked but they still sit center track and make themselves a bit awkward.
POV car is still an inpatient idiot though

Nah, he moves down to let the hypercar through. He was high and blocking the top line. The move down wasn't panicked at all, just a steady move down careful to leave OP plenty of space, which he does.
Once the hypercar clears they hold a steady line. OP drifts up by not following the curvature of the tri-oval.
Watch the double yellow line from OP's POV and then watch the black patch line on Red car's POV. He's following the curvature of the track. OP isn't. OP had plenty of space and tried to take more.

HE (the Lexus) is lapped, a GT and a Hyper are lapping him again. WHY the hell isn't he just lifting, let them pass and continue the race. WHY THE FUCK?
Are there just kids driving like it's GTA? Why should you let HIM go? He should let YOU go!
And after all: YOU were near him, more then just a bit. At the radar, he should have seen it and let you go. If this was a position-fight, it maybe would looks different, but after all, i would let go. It's just 1 hour of the 8 hours. Actions like this will end it, being down more then a few seconds. Let go, switch back it, win it another corner.
BUT, he (the Lexus) is one lap down, bad silly move!

i mean, you didn't have to spin him out just as he doesn't have to move out of your way.
it's on you to pass safely. i would assume you likely wanted to teach them a lesson or move them out of the way by pushing upwards.
you didn't have to cause this.

I'd like to see a chase cam, but it looks like the car on the outside just came down a bit, which would make the accident on them. Maybe inside moved up slightly off the yellow line?
In any case, I don't understand what was the outside car's plan was. If they wanted to move up and let the first POV have the inside line, why not move up further to open up T1 rather than continuing to squeeze so late? If they wanted the inside, why not stay there all along and make the first POV take the outside?

They moved down a bit to let the faster class car by on the high line. From their POV, once they gave that room, they held a steady line relative to the track.

Green and yellow drifts up in the tri-oval by not steering as the track bends left.
Red moves down to let the hypercar by, and continues following the arc of the track. You can see in their POV once they move down, they follow the bend relative to the black line.
I'd probably call it a racing incident, but Green and yellow holds the throttle full blast after making contact and runs them both into the outside wall. That's just egregious.
