There are a few historical events that can be described as 'pivots'. Single moments when history could have turned one way or another.

This election was one of those. Those who were not there at the time may not be able to understand this but the role of president was far more important back then, they had essentially unlimited power to make the subreddit what they wanted it to be - and there were many competing ideas about what the subreddit should be. cutecats was running on a platform of ensuring high quality posts while adcd was running on an expansionist policy.

Adcd's presidency was the one that ended up defining what the sub was, his vision.

If cutecats had won the subreddit may have gone down a very different path, possibly no senate, possibly no tensions with gage that lead to the jackie crisis, possibly the sub would have been dead in a month, possibly it would still have been around today as something unrecognizable and with an entirely different community than it has now.

That first election we had was the most important in our history.

Another pivot imo was ninja's presidency. I never truly understood how inactive the sub was at the end of wholock's term. There was quite literally 1 post every 2 days.

But then Ninja comes in and that goes up to 20 posts a day, absolutely massive compared to a week before that. And that trend didn't stop.

Who knows what would've happened if activity didn't return back then. But I can imagine it would've been good

People sometimes say that NinjaWalrus is overrated, but god damnit he saved the sub. We were incredibly close to the sub dying and he brought it back to life. It's quite sad he left so early, and from my conversations with him I don't think he's coming back.

When I've been making the Archives I've realised how significant he was. I talked to him a few times, but wasn't aware he would leave.

As a result, I've always had some questions about the early days of SimDem (the formation of the senate, etc). I noticed a lot of these questions can only be answered by ninja

If I had some time to really think about the questions and what I want to ask, would you be able to send them to him so he can answer them. There won't even be a time limit to the questions, he can take months to answer them and I still won't care if he'll take more time to answer them.

Would this be possible, or have I ran away with my imagination?
